Muirfield the Only Place for Obrecht Family

Sarah and Jeremy Obrecht both grew up in Hilliard and are now happily settled in Muirfield with their nine-year-old son, Ashton, and their three beloved dogs: Winston, Archie, and Walter. But the story between these two sentences holds a captivating journey.

Jeremy attended Ohio University, while Sarah pursued her studies at Morehead State in Kentucky. Despite sharing many mutual friends, their paths didn’t cross until a high school friend’s twenty-first birthday party. “We had never met before, even though we had many of the same friends,” Sarah recalls.

After college, the Obrechts lived in several states, including Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and Ohio, before finally finding their way back home. For the past year, they’ve called Holyrood Court their home—their second residence in Muirfield. “When we moved back, I was set on Muirfield,” says Sarah, a local realtor licensed in Ohio, Florida, and Kentucky. Meanwhile, Jeremy works as a global manager for Amazon.

Beyond work, the couple keeps busy shuttling Ashton to various sports fields. “Ashton is such an active guy,” Sarah shares. “He loves anything involving a ball, but especially baseball. Most weekends, you’ll find us at the ball field.”

The Obrecht household isn’t complete without their trio of dogs, who add their own charm to the family dynamic. “Winston, who’s 14, is our affectionate senior, Archie is two and the best boy ever, and little Walter, well he is a puppy, and is keeping us on our toes,” says Sarah with a laugh.

Family traditions hold a special place in their hearts, from decorating a gingerbread house every Christmas to their annual pumpkin-carving contest in the fall. Travel also plays a big role in their lives. “We’re hoping to visit all 50 states before Ashton graduates,” explains Sarah. “Our family loves a good adventure, and we always try to do something unique wherever we go.” Hilton Head Island and Seaside are a couple of their favorite getaway spots.

When it comes to dining out, the Obrechts enjoy exploring new restaurants, especially in Old Dublin and Bridge Park. “We love trying new places,” says Sarah, “but we’re regulars at Rooster’s.” At home, the family often spends their weekends unwinding by the fire on their deck or patio, with music, laughter, and a healthy dose of dancing.

Though they are still finding their footing in the community, the Obrechts are already making an impact. Sarah has partnered with Homes for Heroes and donates a portion of her earnings to local charities, including the Franklin County Humane Society and Wounded Warriors.

Eager to continue building connections, the family is excited to meet more neighbors and get involved. “We’re thrilled to be part of this community,” Sarah says. “I love the slower pace Muirfield offers.” For those considering a return to the area, the Obrechts offer an enthusiastic endorsement: “You’re going to love it here—there’s no better place to raise a family.”
