Growing Leaders from Within: DCS Alumni Tapped as Principals

Bryan Arnold will lead Dublin Jerome High School in the Fall.

Dublin City Schools is continuing a deliberate, long-term approach to leadership—one that prioritizes developing talent from within and investing in people who understand the community best.

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, two Scioto High School graduates will step into principal roles at the district’s high schools. Dr. Bryan Arnold will lead Jerome High School, and Wayne Tsai will serve as principal of Coffman High School.

Their appointments reflect a “grow your own” philosophy that focuses on identifying, developing, and retaining strong educators and leaders over time. Both Arnold and Tsai have built their careers in and around Dublin schools, bringing not only professional expertise but also a personal connection to the district.

Dr. Arnold, a 2002 graduate of Scioto High School, began his career as a social studies teacher at Coffman High School before continuing his work at Jerome. Since 2021, he has served as assistant principal at Jerome, supporting students, staff, and families while helping to advance the school’s academic expectations and culture. His experience across roles has provided a comprehensive understanding of what makes the Jerome community strong and how to continue building on that foundation.

At Coffman High School, Wayne Tsai brings a similarly steady path to leadership. A member of Scioto’s Class of 2004, Tsai spent a decade teaching mathematics before moving into administration. For the past five years, he has served as assistant principal at Coffman, where he has been an integral part of the leadership team and school community.

Tsai is known for his student-centered mindset and commitment to ensuring every student has access to meaningful opportunities, whether in academics, activities, or service. His collaborative leadership style and familiarity with Coffman position him well to continue the school’s strong traditions.

Together, these leadership transitions highlight a strategic staffing approach that values continuity, relationships, and deep institutional knowledge. For Arnold and Tsai, the opportunity carries added meaning. As alumni returning to lead, they represent the long-term impact of Dublin City Schools and the potential within its own classrooms.
