Team For A Cure Announces 2026 Lineup of Community Events to Fight Cancer
Muirfield Resident, Lynne Liebert was the honoree at the Pickle Cancer event.
Team For A Cure announces its 2026 fundraising lineup, a trio of community events to raise support for The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University, a nationally recognized center for cancer treatment and research.
All held at The Country Club at Muirfield Village, each event includes an elite team of doctors who will speak about their groundbreaking work. The events are:
Pickle Cancer (June 11), honored Muirfield resident Lynne Liebert. The event included refereed, professional exhibition games followed by social play to accommodate players of all levels. Guest speaker was Dr. Roman Skoracki, medical director of the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center at The Ohio State University Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. All proceeds went directly to the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center.
Golf For A Cure (July 13), is an 18-hole scramble with on-course contests, sponsorship opportunities, and awards reception. The event is sold out, but EventBrite offers various ways to support the event and recognize our honoree, Muirfield resident Jerry McKenna. All proceeds fund Melanoma research conducted by Dr. Joal Beane at The James.
Wine For A Cure (September 24), offering curated wine tastings, dinner, silent and live auctions, and remarks from Dr. Russell R. Lonser, Chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery and Director of the Gene Therapy Institute at The Ohio State University. Ohio State has been approved for the first-in-human clinical trial to treat Glioblastoma, the deadliest type of brain cancer. This always sold-out event is an unforgettable evening of stories of hope and how our community partnership with The James can move the needle on Glioblastoma cancer research.
Last year’s events raised a record breaking $200,000 for The James and Team For A Cure aims to exceed that total in 2026. Every dollar raised helps advance research and improves care for patients at The James. The events are designed to be welcoming, fun, and impactful — whether rallying on the court, swinging a club, or enjoying an evening of wine and lively conversation, all are focused on one goal – cure cancer.
Sponsorship packages and volunteer opportunities are available through Team For A Cure’s website (teamforacure.org). We are community-based nonprofit that organizes athletic and social events to raise funds and awareness for cancer research and patient support programs.
