Owner Ish de Saram was born in Sri Lanka and spent most of his childhood there. He later moved to the U.S. for high school. After graduating from Rollins College in Florida, he worked in banking and operational risk management in New York City. After a few years with Huntington Bank in Columbus, he decided to start his own business. 

“I wanted to build something meaningful—something that filled a real need, had room to grow, and let me take everything I’d learned in corporate America to create systems and operations that actually work in the real world,” Ish says.

Ish found his answer in the Bumble Roofing franchise system, which gave him the structure to succeed—while still leaving room to build something personal. At the heart of it all is customer care. “I genuinely enjoy building relationships with customers, helping them feel confident in their choices, and making what can be an overwhelming process as simple and stress-free as possible,” says Ish.

Ish and his wife, Apsara, have lived in Muirfield for 4 years. They have an 8-year-old son, Ayun, and 5-year-old daughter, Ily. They also have a Yorkshire terrier named Spike. “Outside of the business, family is at the heart of everything we do,” Ish says. “We also believe in giving back, staying humble, and always doing our best.”

That spirit of giving extends to Bumble Roofing’s environmental mission. The company donates a portion of its profits to Save Ohio Bees. The nonprofit restores Ohio’s pollinator habitats and funds conservation efforts. “We are on a mission to protect our bees—a threatened but integral part of our ecosystem and food supply,” says Ish.
