The LookMobile

A new way to shop for eyewear on the go.

In today’s fast-paced world, convenience is key, especially when it comes to shopping for something as essential as eyewear. For many, the process of selecting new glasses can be a frustrating and time-consuming task. Dawn Rudolph, an optical industry expert with over 25 years of experience, has set out to revolutionize the eyewear shopping experience with The LookMobile, a fully-equipped optical boutique on wheels that brings high-quality frames directly to customers.

Launched in August 2025, The LookMobile is a unique mobile optical shop designed to meet the needs of busy individuals, businesses, and communities across Westmoreland County. Whether it’s visiting a local business to offer employees a convenient wellness benefit or providing a personal, concierge eyewear experience for a family, The LookMobile has quickly become a sought-after service in the region.

“I wanted to create something that solved the frustration people often experience with eyewear shopping. It can be a hassle to take time off work, make an appointment, and drive to a store,” said Rudolph. “Now, I bring the store to you, whether that’s at home, work, or even local festivals and community events. It’s all about making eyewear shopping easier, more convenient, and, most importantly, enjoyable.”

The LookMobile is no ordinary mobile service. It’s a full-service optical shop with an impressive inventory of nearly 400 frames, ranging from designer and luxury brands to sports, safety glasses, and sunglasses. Rudolph’s mobile unit is designed to give customers the same high-quality eyewear and personalized service they would receive at a brick-and-mortar optical store, but with the added convenience of being able to shop from the comfort of their own home or office.

Rudolph, a lifelong resident of Greensburg and a graduate of Hempfield High School, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new business. With an associate’s degree in opticianry and certification from the American Board of Opticianry, she is highly skilled in everything from helping customers select the right frames to understanding the intricacies of prescriptions and optical care.

“I’ve worked in the optical industry for over 25 years, including at Everett and Hurite Ophthalmology Group and Noble Vision Center in Greensburg,” Rudolph said. “I’ve always wanted to bring something different to the table, and The LookMobile is the culmination of years of planning and experience.”

One of the most unique aspects of The LookMobile is its mobility. Rather than being confined to a fixed storefront, Rudolph can visit businesses, private homes, or even pop-up events to provide eyewear services. This mobility allows The LookMobile to serve a wide range of customers, including underserved communities, through the Lookfar Project, which helps local adults in need of eyewear.

“The Lookfar Project is something I’m especially proud of,” Rudolph explained. “It allows us to directly reach those who might not otherwise have access to affordable eyewear. It’s a small way we can give back to the community.”

The LookMobile has already made an impact in Westmoreland County and is now expanding its presence in Murrysville. By partnering with Stroll Murrysville, a platform focused on building connections within the community, The LookMobile is offering Murrysville residents a unique way to shop for eyewear without the hassle of commuting to Pittsburgh or dealing with traditional retail options.

“Murrysville is known for its unique character and high quality of life,” Rudolph said. “The LookMobile shares those same values, offering a personalized and stylish service right here in the community. It’s a great option for people who don’t want to settle for the typical, ‘same old, same old’ options and prefer to have something more tailored to their needs.”

For Rudolph, running a mobile business offers the perfect balance between professional fulfillment and flexibility. “The beauty of being mobile is that I can run the business on my own,” she said. “Of course, I have support from Joy Karakis, who handles my marketing and social media, but ultimately, it’s a very personal, hands-on experience for my customers and me.”

When she’s not on the road helping customers find their perfect pair of glasses, Rudolph enjoys spending time with her husband, Scott, and their two fluffy kitties, Rupert and Spartacus. The couple, who live in Greensburg, has been instrumental in the launch and success of The LookMobile.

With the business growing quickly and more customers discovering the benefits of a mobile eyewear service, Rudolph is excited about the future. “I believe The LookMobile is going to continue growing as people realize the convenience and personal touch we bring. It’s all about making eyewear shopping a fun and stress-free experience.”
