Murrysville’s Newest Adventurers: Katelyn McGarrah & Jerry Pan

Welcome to Murrysville’s newest dynamic duo—Katelyn McGarrah and Jerry Pan! This adventurous couple recently moved to our community in July 2024, and while they may be new to the area, they’re already embracing all that Murrysville has to offer.
Katelyn, a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, spent the last five years as a travel RN, making an impact in hospitals across the country. Her journey eventually led her to a contract at the hospital where Jerry, a physician specializing in biochemistry and biomedical sciences, was working. What started as friendly conversations at work soon blossomed into something more—and now, they’re counting down the days to their October 2025 wedding!
Originally from Missouri (Kate) and Toronto (Jerry), the couple loves the peaceful and welcoming atmosphere of Murrysville. “It’s safe and quiet, and everyone we’ve met has been so friendly and helpful,” Kate says. They appreciate the convenience of being close to Pittsburgh while still enjoying the space and charm of their new home.
When they’re not busy saving lives at UPMC Somerset (Jerry) and Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg (Kate), this couple can be found making the most of their free time. Kate enjoys scrapbooking, reading, board games, hiking, cooking, and baking—and she’s hoping to take up gardening soon. Jerry, on the other hand, is an outdoor enthusiast who loves fishing, snowboarding, and surfing. Together, they share a passion for travel, always looking for their next great adventure.
Though they love cooking at home, they’ve also started exploring local restaurants. So far, their favorites include Juniper Grill, Rizzo’s in Crabtree, and Mad Mex in Monroeville. They also have a soft spot for Chinese cuisine and highly recommend Fortune Kitchen in Murrysville. As for home-cooked favorites, Kate’s go-to comfort meal is spaghetti, while Jerry prides himself on his homemade sushi skills!
Their household wouldn’t be complete without their two beloved toy poodles, Sophie (14) and Leo (8). These furry companions bring joy and laughter to their home and have been settling into Murrysville just as well as their humans.
As they continue to explore their new community, Kate is interested in finding a local church and getting involved in volunteer opportunities. While they don’t have kids yet, they joke that they’re just getting started—so maybe we’ll check back in a few years for an update!
If you see Kate and Jerry around town or out on one of their outdoor adventures, be sure to give them a warm Murrysville welcome. We’re thrilled to have them as part of our neighborhood!
