SUPPORT FOR NEW BEGINNINGS

Moonlight Nurturer Helps Families Find Rest, Confidence in Newborn Stage

Amanda Dorn

For many parents, the first weeks at home with a newborn can feel equal parts joyful and overwhelming. Sleepless nights, constant feedings and the steep learning curve of caring for an infant often leave families searching for both rest and reassurance. That’s where Moonlight Nurturer steps in.

Founded in 2023 by Amanda Dorn, Moonlight Nurturer was created with a desire to support families during one of life’s most transformative transitions. They offer professional newborn care and postpartum support designed to ease the adjustment into parenthood while helping families feel calm, capable, and well-rested.

“I saw how overwhelming those first weeks can be,” Amanda said. “After years of working with infants and families—and being a mom myself—I wanted to create a service that allows parents to rest, recover and feel confident as they adjust to life with their new baby.”

Moonlight Nurturer provides in-home support tailored to each family’s needs. Services range from overnight newborn care—allowing parents to get much-needed sleep—to postpartum doula support, sleep guidance, newborn education and nursery preparation. They also offer travel newborn care, assisting families who need support while away from home.

At the heart of the service is a simple but powerful goal: helping parents feel supported while giving them the tools and confidence to care for their baby long after the early weeks have passed.

Amanda brings both professional expertise and personal experience to the role. A certified Newborn Care Specialist and Postpartum Doula, she has completed specialized training in newborn development, feeding support, sleep foundations and postpartum recovery. Her credentials include CACHE and NCSA certifications, as well as Elite NCS designation—qualifications that reflect a commitment to high standards in newborn care.

In addition to formal training, she continues her education regularly to stay current on best practices, particularly in areas such as safe sleep and infant development.

“My work focuses on supporting both baby and parents,” she said. “When families feel rested and informed, everything becomes more manageable.”

Unlike traditional childcare services that focus primarily on the baby, Moonlight Nurturer takes a holistic approach. Each family receives personalized care based on their routines, parenting styles and goals.

“Every family is different,” says Amanda. “We tailor our support to meet their needs. It’s not just about getting through the newborn stage—it’s about helping parents feel confident long after our services end.”

That emphasis on the entire family is what many clients say sets Moonlight Nurturer apart. While newborn care is a central component, emotional support, guidance and reassurance are equally important.

“One of the most meaningful parts of my work is helping parents feel calm and supported during what can be an overwhelming time. Families often share that the extra rest, guidance and reassurance make a huge difference.”
Moonlight Nurturer operates entirely in clients’ homes, allowing families to receive support in a familiar, comfortable environment. This in-home model also allows for hands-on education, helping parents build skills and routines that fit naturally into their daily lives.

Behind the business is a deep-rooted appreciation for family life. Amanda and her husband are parents to four children, a dynamic that she says has shaped both her perspective and her passion.

“Our home is full of energy and laughter,” she said. “Being a parent myself has given me a deep appreciation for how important support can be during the early days with a newborn.”

Her own experiences navigating parenthood inspired her to create a service that could offer other families the help she knows can make a difference.

“Family has always been incredibly important to me,” she said. “Supporting families during such a meaningful time in their lives is something I truly love doing.”

Now about two and a half years into the business, Moonlight Nurturer continues to grow through word-of-mouth and community connections. Partnering with local outlets like Stroll Murrysville has allowed the business to reach more families in need of support during the newborn stage.

“I love connecting with local families and sharing resources that can truly support them,” Amanda said. “It’s about helping parents feel prepared, supported and confident as they welcome their babies home.”

As more families seek personalized, compassionate care during the early days of parenthood, Moonlight Nurturer is filling a vital role—offering not just services, but peace of mind when it matters most.
