Meet the Morcos Family: A Blend of Heritage, Talent, and Community

The Morcos family has been making memories and building connections for the past 16 years here in Murrysville. Nancy and John Morcos, along with their three talented children – Matthew (16), Luke (15), and Julianna (13) – have a story as vibrant and diverse as their interests.

Nancy and John’s journey began 23 years ago when their paths crossed in Baltimore, Maryland, during separate visits. John, a Maryland native, and Nancy, a proud Texan, found common ground despite their geographic roots being as different as brisket and crab cakes. Their shared heritage as second-generation Egyptians helped forge a bond that has only grown stronger with time.

John, a dedicated hematologist and oncologist, lends his expertise to UPMC Cancer Centers, providing compassionate care to his patients. Nancy, a Texas A&M alum with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems, has channeled her organizational skills into running a busy household and pursuing her passions.

The Morcos kids are multi-talented and creative! Matthew, an 11th grader at Franklin Regional High School, strums his guitar and writes music, often collaborating with his brother Luke, a 10th grader, on movies and acting projects. Meanwhile, Julianna, an 8th grader at Franklin Regional Middle School, showcases her artistic flair through baking, nail art, and dancing.

John finds relaxation in fishing, hunting, and perfecting his Neapolitan pizzas in a wood-fired oven. Nancy stays active with running and is mastering the art of photography. Together, they instill an appreciation for the outdoors and culinary adventures in their children. When it comes to family meals, the Morcos household serves up a delightful mix of flavors. From fajitas to Egyptian stuffed grape leaves, their dinners are a celebration of heritage and shared moments around the table.

For the Morcos family, Murrysville is the perfect blend of nature and community. They treasure the small-town feel and its proximity to the city, allowing for the best of both worlds. Though Nancy’s family resides in Texas and John’s in the Washington, D.C., metro area, Murrysville has become their home.

The family’s faith plays a central role in their lives. They are members of St. Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Ambridge but often attend Mother of Sorrows. Nancy also volunteers at the schools occasionally, staying connected to the local community. When dining out, Juniper Grill is a top pick. For vacations, Naples, Florida, Disney cruises, and trips to Italy rank high on their list. Whether traveling or staying local, the Morcos family enjoys discovering new cuisines and experiences together.

Nancy and John’s Egyptian heritage adds a unique layer to their story. Nancy, born and raised in Texas, and John, who grew up in Maryland, bring a rich cultural perspective to Murrysville. Their love of traveling and embracing diverse experiences is something they’ve passed on to their children.
