Meet Layla, our Dog of the Month, a bright, energetic and endlessly curious 2-year-old Border Collie who is always ready for her next adventure.

Owned by Joel, Layla perfectly embodies everything this remarkable breed is known for. Border Collies are widely considered one of the smartest dog breeds in the world, prized for their intelligence, athleticism and eagerness to learn. Layla showcases all of those qualities and more.

One of the first things people notice about Layla is her beautiful, expressive eyes. They seem to be constantly taking in the world around her, reflecting the inquisitive nature that makes her such a special companion. Whether she's exploring a new environment or learning a new skill, Layla approaches everything with curiosity and enthusiasm.

That intelligence and energy have found the perfect outlet through agility training. Layla regularly trains in Glendale and at the SPCA LA park where she enjoys tackling obstacles, learning new techniques and building confidence with every session. Agility is an ideal activity for a Border Collie, combining both physical exercise and mental stimulation; two things this active breed craves.

According to Joel, Layla's hard work is about to reach an exciting new milestone. After months of dedication and training, she is expected to begin competing in agility events in March 2026. With her natural athletic ability, quick mind and determination, she is already showing all the signs of a future standout competitor.

For now, Layla continues to impress everyone she meets with her intelligence, drive, and lovable personality. Whether she's racing through an agility course or simply observing the world with those striking eyes, she represents the very best qualities of the Border Collie breed.
