Costa Rica was the chosen destination for the Wiegard father-son duo's Spring Break in March. Accompanied by Rich's 10-year-old son, John, they embarked on an 8-day adventure split between the lush landscapes of Arenal and the vibrant shores of Tamarindo.

With a shared love for activity and exploration, Costa Rica's array of thrilling experiences was a perfect match for the Wiegards. They immersed themselves in a whirlwind of activities, from rappelling down a towering waterfall to soaking in the natural hot springs of Kalambu Waterpark and horseback riding to the majestic La Fortuna waterfall at the base of the Arenal volcano.

Their itinerary overflowed with excitement—an exhilarating zipline adventure, serene kayaking excursions, navigating Class 3/4 whitewater rapids (including a thrilling plunge down a 12-foot waterfall), ATV rides, sport fishing expeditions, a captivating sunset cruise, and even trying their hand at surfing.

Amid their adrenaline-fueled escapades, the Wiegards savored typical Costa Rican dishes featuring rice, beans, fish or chicken, and plantains—an authentic taste of the local cuisine.

Their journey was peppered with surprises and challenges. John opted out of a daunting 172-foot rappel, while a daring 675-foot high zipline above the rainforest tested their fear of heights. The most heart-pounding moment came during whitewater rafting when Rich found himself briefly trapped under the raft after an exhilarating plunge down a waterfall.

For both father and son, the zipline experience emerged as the highlight of the trip—an awe-inspiring, adrenaline-pumping adventure like no other.

Costa Rica left quite a mark on Rich and John, sparking a desire to return. The contrast between Arenal's lush rainforests and Tamarindo's sun-drenched surftown captivated them. Their passion for travel continues to grow, with Budapest and Switzerland set as the next grand adventure—continuing their quest for unforgettable experiences around the globe.
