Several talented Newman Village students recently lit up the stage in Memorial High School’s production of Matilda: The Musical. Sarah Espinoza took on the title role and absolutely shined — even earning an outstanding review from Broadway Dallas for her performance. Jackson Baker brought both humor and energy to his unforgettable portrayal of Mrs. Trunchbull. Brandon Chiou wowed audiences as Bruce Bogtrotter and was recognized with a nomination for Outstanding Featured Performer by Broadway Dallas.

But it wasn’t just the cast making waves — other neighborhood kids played key roles behind the scenes as part of the lighting and tech crew. From the spotlight to the control booth, Newman Village was proudly represented in this incredible production.
