Emma’s Passion for Girl Scouts: Building Confidence, Community, and Cookies!

Newman Village’s own Emma Bhagat shares how Girl Scouts has helped her grow as a leader, make new friends, and give back—one cookie at a time!

A New Adventure in Newman Village
Emma and her family are new to Newman Village, having moved in this past December. They’re currently planning to build a home in The Homestead, and Emma has already embraced her new community. As a 4th grader at Newman Elementary, she’s made wonderful friends and loves the sense of safety and space she has to play outside.
A Family That Gives Back
Giving back is a big part of Emma’s family. Her younger brother, Oliver, is a Cub Scout, and her mom, Samantha, was a Girl Scout growing up. Even her stepdad, Fahad, stays involved by serving on the Newman Village HOA board. Volunteering is just part of who they are!
Finding Her Passion in Girl Scouts
Emma joined Girl Scouts of North Texas - Troop 883 two years ago as a Brownie and recently bridged to Juniors. She loves being a Girl Scout because it has helped her feel like part of a community while teaching her how to be strong and independent. The troop meets regularly, participates in fun activities, and even goes to camp twice a year.
Selling Cookies & Building Leaders
Emma’s favorite part of Girl Scouts? Selling cookies! Each year, she helps raise money for her troop by selling Girl Scout cookies, which funds activities that teach leadership and independence. Every box sold brings new opportunities for learning, adventure, and growth.
A Passion for Baking
Beyond scouting, Emma has another passion—baking! She loves creating sweet treats and recently started her own Instagram page, Sugar and Smiles by Emmy (@baking_with_emmy). She hopes to share her love for baking with others and inspire new bakers to get creative in the kitchen.
