The NoCo Mom’s Group

The NoCo Moms Group has been around since 2010, when a group of neighborhood moms found life and motherhood was much easier and more fun when you did it together. Since then, hundreds of women have joined.

Currently around 100 ladies are members. The group tries to welcome in everyone who joins. Several times a month, members of the group get together for either casual events for moms only in the neighborhood, bigger events for couples anywhere in the state and fun events for the kids. Some favorites are the annual neighborhood scavenger hunt for moms, the boat cruise where their partners are invited to come along, and an Easter Egg hunt for kids. It has also hosted learning events like CPR classes, charcuterie board making, floral arranging, and learned from neighborhood pediatrician, Dr. Steve Johnson, about raising well-adjusted kids in a digital world.

Aside from the planned events, the magic of NoCo Moms Group is the community. Its private Facebook group is filled with recommendations, encouragement and support during hard times. Lifelong friendships have been formed from the group. Members know they will see friendly and familiar faces all over this great neighborhood:at the park, the pool and the neighborhood events. One of the things the group realizes is what it says on its website: “We love to love on one another … after all, motherhood is HARD and we NEED our village!”

The requirements of membership in this 501(c)7 social group are simple: you have to be a mom or becoming a mom and you have to live in, own property in or a business in Norton Commons. Dues are around $200 a year. For more information on joining, you can visit the group’s website: nocomoms.wildapricot.org/join-us
