Type of animal/breed:
Pug
Pet's age:
10
When & where did you adopt your pet?
From East Tennessee Boston Terrier Rescue. Yes, they got a pug, and I picked her up in Knoxville, TN. She was 7 years old when we adopted her. Already a senior. What made you decide to make your home your pet's forever home? I had lost my pug, Dougie. He was handicapped and required a lot of time. After he was gon,e I was lost. My husband and I thought, who better to adopt another pug than us? We had learned a lot about the breed. We applied to the local pug rescues, but at the time, they had none for us. A friend at the dog park had a son and daughter-in-law in Knoxville who had two pugs. Their groomer was fostering Sadie and asked if they wanted her. They had their hands full with two pugs already, but knew I had lost mine. They sent me a picture,e and the next thing I knew I was driving to Knoxville to get her. I felt like it was meant to be. She needed us, and we needed her.

How did your pet get his/her name?
She came with her name. We got her at 7 years old. We felt it would be wrong to change it. She knew her name for sure.

Does your pet have any favorite toys, places to sleep, visit, etc.?
Sadie looks forward to our daily visits to the dog park. It’s the highlight of her day. She also loves her lamb chop stuffed toy. She has three of them!  One for every bed in the house. Like all pugs, she enjoys her food. Tell us something quirky or funny that your pet does: My pug is a screamer. We can’t sit on our front porch with her because she screams at people walking by. We have to reassure passersby that she is ok and just excited to see them. Her way of saying hello is to be very vocal.  It doesn’t sound human!

How has having your pet made your life better?
She’s a clown and entertains us constantly. She demands that we stay on schedule and keeps us on our toes. We have made so many friends in the neighborhood by going to the dog park. We even get together without our dogs!

Is there anything else you want to tell the neighbors about your pet?
If you visit the dog park while she’s there, she will try to make you pay a toll to get in by way of treats. She might even howl at you.
