Sara McConda’s Journey from Medical Spouse to Trusted Realtor
Sara McConda is a Louisville native who grew up in the Saint Matthews area. After moving several times for her husband David’s medical training during his residency and fellowship, their family eventually made their way back home to Louisville, where they now raise their four children.
Those years of moving around actually shaped the career Sara has today. During David’s training, she saw firsthand how challenging it could be to buy and sell homes while juggling the demanding schedule of a medical family. “Each time we moved, it felt like realtors didn’t quite understand what life in medicine entailed,” she remembers. “One time during residency, we lived so far from the hospital that we had to move mid-residency just to make things work.”
That experience inspired Sara to become the kind of realtor she always wished they had, someone who truly understands the lifestyle, pressures, and financial nuances that come with a career in medicine.
Her real estate career began with personal investments. “I started investing for my family and realized how much I enjoyed the process,” she says. “It grew from there, and now I help not only friends and family, but also medical professionals with all of their real estate needs, whether it’s buying a home, finding investment properties, or purchasing fun vacation homes.”
What makes Sara’s business unique is her niche focus on the healthcare community. “Having lived the life of medicine myself, I know the incredible demands it places on the entire family. I work hard to make each transition as smooth as possible,” she explains. “Physicians also face unique financial challenges and opportunities, so I work closely with my clients to navigate physician-specific financing options.”
When asked for advice, Sara emphasizes the importance of remembering what a significant investment a home truly is. “It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of buying or selling, but it’s important to stay focused on your overall goals. Working with a realtor who can help take a little of the emotion out of it really helps.”
Sara loves living in Lake Forest, both for the family-friendly atmosphere and the sense of connection among neighbors. She’s passionate about providing a boutique-style experience for each client she works with. “I’ll always do what’s best for my clients,” she says. “It’s so important to me that every family I help feels supported and cared for, just like I would want for my own.”
