Chalk, Brick, and Classic Rock
Bill Lowery’s Summer Tradition
Each summer, Norton Commons resident Bill Lowery transforms the side of his garage into a work of art. His chalk murals, inspired by classic album covers, have become a neighborhood tradition.
“This one was the most challenging of all,” Bill says of his latest piece—a vibrant rendition of Supertramp’s Breakfast in America. “I wore off my fingerprints working the chalk into that rough brick. More than once, I thought, ‘What were you thinking?’”
Neighbors stopped by throughout the project, eager to see the progress. “Some even go out of their way every spring to check what I’m up to,” he laughs.
Now that the mural is complete, Bill’s looking forward to some well-earned relaxation. We are excited to see what he has up his sleeves for next year.
