Making the Right Match
After 12 years in recruiting, Jonathon Streander launched Visionary Talent Acquisition with a people-first approach focused on transparency, relationships, and long-term success.
For Jonathon Streander, recruiting has never been just about filling positions. It’s about building relationships, creating opportunities, and helping businesses find the right people to grow. After more than a decade in the recruiting industry, Jonathon recently launched his own company, Visionary Talent Acquisition, bringing a fresh and transparent approach to talent recruiting.
Founded just two months ago, Visionary Talent Acquisition specializes in sourcing and recruiting top talent for direct placement across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, construction, healthcare, and hospitality. While the company may be new, Jonathon brings 12 years of recruiting experience and an extensive network built both locally and nationally.
“Over the years, I realized there was an opportunity to use my experience and relationships in a more impactful way,” Jonathon says. “I wanted the freedom to build something centered around partnership and transparency, without the limitations of the traditional corporate environment.”
That mindset is exactly what sets Visionary Talent Acquisition apart. Jonathon describes himself as a disruptor in the recruiting industry, challenging the standard contingency fee model many companies have come to expect. Instead of charging large placement percentages, his business operates on a model where clients pay based on the time and effort dedicated to the search.
“It creates a much more collaborative relationship,” he explains. “The goal is to help companies find the right fit without burdening them with inflated fees.”
Jonathon believes one of the biggest mistakes companies make when hiring is relying solely on online job boards and hoping the right candidate appears.
"You’re not just hiring a resume; you’re hiring someone with the intention of growing and developing them within your organization," he says. ”
His path into recruiting was somewhat unexpected. After graduating from Indiana University, Jonathon began his career in sales and marketing before a random opportunity led him into an HR Director role heavily focused on recruiting.
“I had absolutely no HR background,” he laughs. “I quickly realized the traditional HR side wasn’t really for me, but recruiting clicked instantly. Connecting the right people with the right opportunities just felt natural.”
Outside of work, Jonathon stays busy with a wide range of hobbies and interests. Self-described as a “plant dad, concert addict, and music junkie,” he spends much of his free time attending live shows, playing tennis or golf, reading, and cheering on IU sports and the New York Mets.
Music also remains a huge part of his life. Jonathon plays guitar and sings in various music projects and previously toured across the country with his mid-2000s rock band, Burn to Shine.
Family is equally important to him. He is the proud father of two accomplished children, Taylor, a Speech Language Pathologist, and Jackson, a Project Manager. Both followed the family tradition of attending Indiana University. He also enjoys spending time with his mom and stepdad, who live in Crescent Hill.
With a growing business, deep community roots, and a people-first mindset, Jonathon is building more than a recruiting company. He’s building lasting connections throughout Louisville and beyond.
