Becky Roush Brings a Fresh Approach to Healing
If you ask Becky Roush what gets her out of bed in the morning, she will tell you it's the thrill of unraveling a good mystery. "I love puzzles and solving puzzles to help people feel good in their bodies," she says. "I was the only student in PT school who didn't love exercise!"
Originally from Danville, Kentucky, Becky’s journey took her through the University of Kentucky, Chicago, Columbus, and Michigan before bringing her back home to be near family. Her connection to Norton Commons, however, began 17 years ago while she was living in Michigan. Working as a consulting PT for Owsley Brown Frazier, she sought out Pilates for Mr. Frazier and hired Bear Decatur, who owned Core Pilates in the newly developing Norton Commons community. Bear’s exceptional skill as a provider and human being made a lasting impression, and Becky always kept in mind that if she ever moved to Louisville, working with Bear would be her dream.
Years later, when deciding to move closer to family, she called Bear to see if he had a place for her at Core. Now settled in the neighborhood with her husband, Chip, a remote Unitarian Universalist minister, and Phoebe, their rescued apricot standard poodle, Becky is thrilled to bring her practice right to Norton Commons. Operating inside Core Studio, she gets to enjoy one of her favorite daily routines: walking to work and catching up with neighbors along the way.
Becky spent years treating catastrophic injuries, drawn to the deep personal transformations that happen during recovery. Over her 35-year career, she realized that kind of progress shouldn't be limited to major trauma. Breaking away from traditional, fast-paced clinics, she built a practice focused on deep partnership, taking into account nervous system regulation, gut mechanics, and daily habits.
"Pain is usually about a joint or muscle taking too much load because another muscle or joint isn't functioning well," Becky explains. "The part of your body complaining is usually not the part of your body that isn't working right."
Whether she is tackling balance issues, pelvic floor rehabilitation, or fine-tuning movement for athletes, Becky is famous for unlocking stubborn, chronic pain that hasn't responded to traditional fixes.
When it comes to basic health, Becky keeps her advice direct and encouraging: "The body was born to move. You don't have to move fast or be athletic, but you do need to move." She also reminds neighbors that pain isn't a required tax on getting older, incontinence is never normal, and "bone on bone" arthritis doesn't automatically mean joint replacement.
