From the Battlefield to the Courtroom: The Journey of Marcio Soares
Ranger, Green Beret, and attorney—Marcio Soares’ journey from military service to civilian leadership is guided by discipline, courage, and a commitment to protect others.
Service and Role
Marcio Soares began his military career in the Infantry as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, one of the Army’s most storied and rapidly deployable units. While serving in the 82nd, he attended and graduated from U.S. Army Ranger School, one of the most challenging leadership courses in the U.S. military. This milestone marked him as a leader capable of enduring extreme trials while guiding others through them.
During his time in uniform, Marcio completed a series of demanding schools and training, ultimately graduating from the Special Forces Qualification Course and earning the Green Beret with an engineering specialty. His military career combined the grit of the airborne infantry with the advanced skillset of Special Forces, shaping him into a soldier and leader prepared for the most difficult missions.
Inspiration to Join the Military
From the beginning, Marcio was motivated by a desire to serve his country and to test himself in the toughest environments. The military gave him the opportunity to serve a cause greater than himself while forging a path of discipline and leadership.
Combat Deployments
Marcio deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, serving in combat zones where resilience, preparation, and trust in his team were essential. These experiences left a lasting impact, teaching him lessons about courage under pressure and the importance of brotherhood in the most demanding circumstances.
Lessons Carried Into Civilian Life
The Army instilled in Marcio values that continue to guide him today: discipline, perseverance, and integrity. Above all, the Green Beret motto De Oppresso Liber—“To Free the Oppressed”—left a permanent mark on his outlook. Today, as an estate planning attorney, he carries forward that principle by helping families protect their loved ones and secure peace of mind for the future.
Influential People Along the Way
Marcio’s path was shaped by leaders, mentors, and brothers-in-arms who served alongside him. Their trust, sacrifice, and camaraderie taught him the meaning of true leadership. His family’s unwavering encouragement also gave him the strength to endure the rigors of Ranger School, Special Forces training, and combat deployments.
Advice for Younger Generations
To young people considering military service, Marcio’s advice is straightforward: “Have a clear purpose. If you commit fully, the military will challenge you beyond what you think possible—but it will also transform you, giving you resilience, strength, and the ability to serve something bigger than yourself.”
Pride in Service
Marcio takes pride in the milestones of his military career—graduating from Ranger School, completing Special Forces training, and deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan. But above all, he values the privilege of serving alongside extraordinary men and women who dedicated their lives to protecting freedom.
Guiding Wisdom
Alongside De Oppresso Liber, Marcio carries forward the principle: “We plan better, so you can worry less.” Just as he once anticipated challenges to protect his teammates, he now applies that same foresight to safeguard families’ futures through his law practice.
Continuing the Mission
Today, as the founder of Soares Law Firm, Marcio continues his lifelong mission of service. Whether on the battlefield or in the courtroom, his purpose has always been the same: to serve with integrity, protect those who depend on him, and lead with the values forged during his years in the U.S. Army.
