Dash the Magical Corgi: A Fairy-Tale Pup
A Legendary Past, a Lively Present: Dash the Corgi Brings Joy to the Glenn Family

Corgis are considered working dogs and have a history as herders, but their talents may be of another world. Legend has it that Corgis acted as war horses for magical fairies before beginning their herding work for humans; the pattern commonly found on Corgi backs is said to be a fairy saddle. While we can never confirm their connection to the magical realm, it’s safe to say that Corgis have a magical air about them, and Dash is no exception.
Dash is a red-and-white male Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and the newest member of the Glenn family. KJ Glenn, Dash’s mom, says Dash joined their family after they lost Bear, their dog of twelve years, this last Thanksgiving. While our pets can never be replaced, Dash has been a welcome and comforting addition to the Glenns. Dash’s name is emblematic of his energy and speed; “I don't even know where I came up with [his name], but it is very fitting,” KJ jokes.
Magical or not, Dash is a very fast learner. “Dash is doing a great job of learning the usual tricks, but he is a champ at pushing his doggie doorbell when he wants to go outside,” KJ says. “Dash recently went on a 13-hour family road trip and patiently laid on the floor at my feet the whole time. He is the most well-behaved puppy I've ever met!”
Like most new puppies, Dash is amassing a personal collection of toys and chewies. He does a good job spreading the love and giving all of his toys attention, but naturally, he has a few favorites. He’s particularly fond of a ball that looks like a chicken, as well as his bones. As much as he enjoys his chewies, Dash’s favorite plaything might just be a freshly-raked pile of leaves. Dash’s dad, JD, is sure to bring him outside every time he rakes. KJ says his Corgi hop into a leaf pile is the cutest, and who are we to argue?
Dash enjoys long walks around Oak Creek, but in his puppy life, he’s yet to make any friends. With a face like his, friends are sure to come very soon. “He loves other people and dogs, and happily greets either who comes his way,” KJ says. His favorite playmates are his sisters (the Glenn’s children), with whom he loves to run and chase. While he may not be steered by a fairy warrior, Dash’s power lies in the love and life he brings to his family every day. That’s as much magic as anyone can ask for.
