We all go further when we reach out to help each other and help fill the gaps to create a solid floor to stand on. Recently we had the opportunity to sit down with a local Livingston County charity that is the heart of a large network of giving in our community.  

What touched us about Love Inc. is their genuine caring and excitement for the impact they are privileged to provide.  From the moment we sat down with them we could feel that their mission to provide help and hope to those in need is more than just words, it’s a calling to give back and lift up those in need. Through their network of 66 churches and local businesses, they are on the front lines of support and education in the community.

You may know about Love Inc. through their resale shop on Grand River in Howell, but that is a small part of what they do. Our guests, Margo Veenstra and Carrie Skiles, highlighted many of the programs they provide and support through Love Inc. As a Christian ministry they empower people and embrace the ministry of Love in the name of Christ and everyone is welcome and encouraged.  Support starts with service, love, and encouragement.

A big part of Love Inc. is the compassion of its volunteers. Sometimes the most important thing is listening and at Love Inc. it all starts with a phone call.  From there it’s about putting the right resources together to make an impact and fill the gaps to start supporting them where they are today and building them up for tomorrow. They connect people with the resources they need through their network of churches and the many programs that they together are able to provide as a whole.

One of the programs that we learned about was notable for its long-term impact on everyone involved.  Love Inc.’s New Creation Workshops is a free weekly program that offers one-on-one mentoring, personal budget coaching, and empowering sessions that build confidence. Over the course of a year, individuals are built up and learn skills that impact their lives today and tomorrow.

Livingston County is home to many wonderful charities, and we are always amazed at the support on time and resources that come from our local community members.  It is the people of Livingston County that make charities like Love Inc. and their network of churches so impactful.  We never know what weight others may be carrying or what type of support will be the most impactful. That’s where Love Inc. shines, they fill the gaps and help connect those in need with people who want to help.
