Meet the Krause Family
Neighbors Who Love Golf, Family, and Creating Christmas Magic
Nestled in Oak Pointe Honors, the Krause family, Jon, Kate, and their adorable son Theo, have been proud members of the Oak Pointe community since May 2021. Drawn to the welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere of the neighborhood and the vibrant Oak Pointe Country Club, they knew Brighton was the perfect place to plant roots and raise a family. Being just ten minutes from both downtown Brighton and downtown Howell sealed the deal.
Jon, 37, works in the medical device field and enjoys the best that Michigan living has to offer, especially golfing, heading up north in the summer, and attending local sporting events.
Kaitlin (Kate), 36, works in pharmacy distribution for health systems. She loves spending time with family and friends, golfing, going out for dinner, and planning their next vacation. When she’s not out and about, you might find her binge-watching her favorite TV shows or snuggling with the family pets.
Both Jon and Kate earned their Bachelor’s degrees in Kinesiology, Jon from Michigan State University and Kate from Saginaw Valley State University. Their story began back in the summer of 2011 at the Great Lakes Athletic Club in Lake Orion, where Kate worked as a lifeguard and Jon served as Activities Director. After four years of dating, they tied the knot in August 2015 and recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary, a milestone that highlights their shared love, laughter, and commitment.
Their son, Theodore “Theo” Krause, born in May 2024, is a bright and joyful toddler who will be 19 months old in December. Theo’s world is full of giggles, toys, and outdoor adventures. He adores golf cart rides, playing outside, and spending time with his grandparents. A budding sports fan already, Theo loves watching the Lions with his dad and swinging his toy golf clubs. Currently obsessed with Bluey, he even dressed up as the beloved character for Halloween. His favorite words right now, “Woah,” “Yea,” and “Nana” (for banana), keep his parents smiling daily.
The Krause family wouldn’t be complete without their furry companions. Spencer, their 14-year-old Golden Retriever, is a sweet and happy guy who still has a puppy’s heart and loves chasing his ball. Mini, their 9-year-old cat, is equally beloved, especially by Kate. Mini enjoys long naps, snuggles with mom, and watches the neighborhood wildlife from the window.
Holidays are truly magical in the Krause household. Each year, the family dons matching Christmas pajamas and transforms their home into a festive wonderland, complete with four full-sized Christmas trees, garland cascading along the staircase and balcony, and twinkling lights outside that Jon proudly arranges. Decorating begins November 1st, and they look forward to making the season even more special as Theo grows up and joins in on the fun.
Around the community, the Krauses are active members of the Oak Pointe Country Club, participating in golf leagues and club events. Jon plays in the men’s league on Tuesday nights, Kate in the ladies’ league on Wednesdays, and they join forces for the couples’ league on Thursdays. They also enjoy the club pool, playground, and plan to join more of the kids’ activities as Theo gets older.
When they venture out, you might spot them dining and enjoying cocktails at Single Barrel Social or taking Theo to the downtown Brighton playground. They love neighborhood walks, especially those evening stroller rides and golf cart adventures under the canopy of Oak Pointe’s beautiful trees.
For the Krauses, Oak Pointe isn’t just a place to live, it’s a community that feels like family. From the friendships they’ve built to the memories they’re making every day, they truly embody the spirit of connection and joy that defines our neighborhood.
