Holding Onto Time
For more than 20 years, Noreen Owens has helped Livingston County families preserve life's fleeting seasons through heirloom portrait art that celebrates connection, tells a family's story, and becomes part of its legacy.
Walk into a home, and you'll learn a lot about the people who live there. Family heirlooms, treasured keepsakes and favorite gathering places all tell part of the story. For Noreen Owens, however, the most meaningful homes have something else in common: portraits that celebrate the people who matter most.
"Some family photos live in a phone," Noreen says. "These live on a wall for generations."
That philosophy has guided Noreen Owens Photography for more than two decades. While cameras and technology have changed over the years, her purpose has remained the same: helping families preserve the moments that pass far too quickly.
Photography has been part of Noreen's life since childhood, but she never imagined it would become her career. After leaving a corporate position to stay home and raise her four children, she rediscovered a passion that had quietly been waiting in the background. What began in her living room more than 20 years ago has since grown into a thriving portrait studio, recently relocating to a beautiful new space in Howell.
Today, Noreen leads a team of seven who share her commitment to creating an experience that feels welcoming, relaxed and personal from the first phone call through the moment families proudly display their finished artwork at home.
For Noreen, beautiful portraits begin long before the camera comes out.
Many families come to her wanting more than a few digital images tucked away on a phone. They want to walk into their home and see the people they love most reflected on the walls. They dream of heirloom albums their children and grandchildren will one day flip through together. Most importantly, they want portraits that truly reflect who they areānot stiff poses or forced smiles, but genuine laughter, authentic personalities and the relationships that define their family.
Helping people feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves has become one of Noreen's greatest strengths.
"We help people relax in front of the camera so their true personality shines," she says.
That relaxed atmosphere often leads to transformations that extend far beyond the finished portraits.
