The Dressler-Beebe Family
Cats, Crafts, and Lots of Laughs in Oakhill Brewster

This month, we’re excited to introduce the Dressler-Beebe family—a fun-loving, creative bunch who have made the Oakhill Brewster neighborhood their home. Rachael, Adam, August, and Tallulah live a life full of art, adventure, and cat cuddles, all while staying deeply connected to their community. With their unique blend of talents and traditions, this family adds color and warmth to our neighborhood.
A Concert That Started It All
Before they were the Dressler-Beebes, Rachael and Adam’s love story started in the most Petaluma way possible—at a concert at the Phoenix Theater. “Our mutual friends were performing, and the music just brought us together,” Rachael recalls with a smile. She jokes that their love for live music sparked their relationship, but their shared passions for creativity, family, and community have kept them going strong ever since.
Building a Life in Petaluma
The couple has lived in Petaluma for 11 years, five of which have been in their historic Oakhill Brewster home. “We jumped at the chance to buy this house,” says Rachael. “The neighborhood’s charm and sense of history are unbeatable.”
Rachael grew up in Marin County, while Adam’s roots are in Santa Cruz. Before settling in Petaluma, they lived in San Francisco, where city life inspired much of their artistic endeavors. But when their first child, August, was born, they knew it was time to trade the hustle and bustle for the small-town charm of Petaluma.
Career Highlights
Rachael, 48, works as a Realtor with Coldwell Banker in Petaluma, helping others find their dream homes in the community she loves. Adam, also 48, is a substitute teacher and lifelong artist. With a background in art education, Adam spent 10 years teaching art at Archie Williams High School in San Anselmo. Now, he’s pursuing a Master’s in Library and Information Sciences to become a librarian—a role that combines his love for books and education.
The Next Generation of Creatives
The artistic flair doesn’t stop with Rachael and Adam. Their kids, 12-year-old August and 9-year-old Tallulah, are bursting with creativity and curiosity. August loves drawing, cooking (his lasagne is legendary), and playing Minecraft. He’s also an avid reader, often losing himself in a good book.
Tallulah is equally imaginative, spending her time sewing, dancing, and even concocting “potions.” She’s also a dedicated cat cuddler, giving plenty of love to the family’s three rescue cats: Audrey, the mom, and her kittens, Oliver and Phoebe.
Daily Walks and “Cat Alley”
The Dressler-Beebe family makes the most of their neighborhood with daily walks, a tradition that started during the pandemic and continues to this day. One of their favorite activities is counting how many cats they’ll see along the way, especially on Galland Street, which they’ve lovingly dubbed “Cat Alley” because of its abundance of feline residents.
Holidays, Adventures, and Pizza Nights
When it comes to family traditions, the Dressler-Beebes know how to keep things exciting. Christmas is a favorite, often celebrated with trips to Tahoe. Halloween is another big event, with the family trick-or-treating from their home down D Street and back.
Everyday adventures are just as important to this dynamic family. They love ferry rides to San Francisco, hiking at Helen Putnam Park, and visiting Doran Beach for some coastal fun. Downtown Petaluma is a usual hangout, where they enjoy sushi at Kabuki, ice cream at Once Upon a Slush, and movies at the theater with its cozy reclining seats.
Recently, the family has embraced a new hobby: making pizza from scratch. “It’s messy, but so much fun,” says Rachael. “And the results are delicious!” Their excitement is palpable as they look forward to the opening of L’Oro Di Napoli, their favorite pizza spot from Santa Rosa, which is expanding to Petaluma.
Supporting Art and Community
As a family, the Dressler-Beebes are big supporters of local art and community events. Rachael recently joined the board of the Petaluma Arts Center and is eager to involve her family in its activities. “It’s such a fantastic organization,” she says. “We’re excited to contribute to its growth and success.”
They also give a nod to some of their favorite local businesses, including Canteen Meats, which is conveniently located right next to their home, and Out West Garage, a woman-owned, family-friendly business known for its bluegrass jams and dance parties.
Favorite Memories and Everyday Joys
One of the family’s most cherished memories took place during the pandemic, a time when the world slowed down and daily walks became a lifeline. Exploring their neighborhood, visiting Oak Hill Park, and simply spending time together strengthened their bond and deepened their love for their community.
“Our walks are still a big part of our routine,” says Rachael. “It’s a simple pleasure, but it reminds us why we love living here.”
Why They Love Oakhill Brewster
For the Dressler-Beebe family, Oakhill Brewster is more than just a neighborhood—it’s home. The historic charm, vibrant community, and endless opportunities for connection make it the perfect place to raise their family.
