From Digital Pioneer to Maximalist Master

For 17 years, Amy Critchett has been a proud part of our neighborhood, blending her creative spirit into the community. Her artistic journey is as vibrant as the light installations she’s helped bring to life, like The Bay Lights in San Francisco and Illuminated River in London. As part of the founding teams at WIRED, OXYGEN, and ZERO ONE, Amy has been at the forefront of combining art, media, and technology in groundbreaking ways.
Amy’s art is all about turning the everyday into something extraordinary. She layers colors, textures, and borrowed imagery onto unconventional canvases—think welcome mats, blankets, jackets, tiles, wallpaper, and more. Her work blends bold statements with vibrant designs, creating pieces that are both beautiful and thought-provoking.
One of her most meaningful projects is The Election Collection, a series of artworks designed to inspire action for the 2024 elections. By transforming ordinary objects into pieces of “art eclectibles,” Amy shows how art can be both decorative and powerful.
Amy finds inspiration in public art and creative experiences that spark action. Her work often celebrates democracy and connection, with a touch of humor and a lot of heart. Like many artists, her biggest challenge is finding enough time to bring all her ideas to life.
Locally, Amy has been involved in events like Art as Action at the Petaluma Art Center, where she helped shine a light on art’s role in activism. Her hope is that her work inspires curiosity and wonder, encouraging people to see the world—and their own neighborhoods—with fresh eyes.
Through her art and her involvement in the community, Amy Critchett is helping us all see the beauty and possibility in the everyday.
