Meet Cobalt
The High-Energy Heeler Taking Over the Neighborhood (One Trick at a Time)

For more than 20 years, Chandell Beeson has loved everything about our neighborhood—the inviting community, the charming Victorian homes, and the way it feels like home. Just over a year ago, her household got a little livelier with the arrival of Cobalt, a tricolored blue heeler brimming with energy and personality.
'My roommate and I were searching for another blue heeler after our old one passed away,' Chandell says. 'He found Cobalt from a family up north that had a litter of puppies and brought him home.'
Naming him was an easy decision. 'Jason, my roommate, gave me a choice between Cobalt and another name I didn’t like,' she explains. 'I love the color cobalt blue, and since he’s a blue heeler, it just felt right.'
True to his breed, Cobalt is sharp, energetic, and eager to learn. He’s already mastered an impressive list of tricks—rolling over, giving high-fives, standing on his hind legs, and spinning in circles for treats. He’s also a fetching pro and a dream to walk, thanks to his calm leash manners.
Adventures are Cobalt’s specialty. He loves running free at a ranch in Willits, swimming in the Eel River, and chasing wildlife to his heart’s content. He’s also become Chandell’s paddleboarding buddy, gliding effortlessly along Tomales Bay and the Russian River. Closer to home, Oak Hill Park is his playground of choice, even though his dog pals live a little farther away.
But it’s not all action-packed fun. Some of Chandell’s favorite memories of Cobalt are from his puppy days. 'I used to scoop him up while he was sleeping and snuggle with him on the couch,' she says fondly. 'He’s a little too big for that now, and he’s not as into snuggling, but those moments were so special.'
With his vibrant personality and endless charm, Cobalt has made himself at home in the neighborhood. Whether he’s showing off his tricks, exploring the local streets, or simply soaking up time with his family, he’s a reminder of the love and joy that pets bring into our lives.
