CAYA PINWHEELS FOR PREVENTION

WHY are blue pinwheel gardens blooming each April?
The gardens are part of a nationwide campaign, April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, raising awareness about PREVENTING child and adolescent adversity, including abuse, BEFORE IT HAPPENS.

WHO sponsors the campaign locally?
Clarkston Area Youth Assistance (CAYA) is a community nonprofit organization that has been providing prevention programs and casework services for Clarkston area school-age children and their families since 1961. CAYA’S programs and services are focused on strengthening the well-being of children, adolescents, and families through community involvement.

WHAT can you do this April?
1. Extend kindness everywhere you go.
2. Connect with the children and adolescents in your life and help them feel loved, safe, and special.
3. Plant a blue pinwheel garden to raise awareness and show community support to PREVENT child and adolescent adversity, including child abuse—BEFORE IT HAPPENS IN THE FIRST PLACE and help support CAYA’s prevention programs and services.
