A Good Life

Neighbors Matt, Eleni, Emma, and Lauren Sardelli loved introducing their Dachshund puppy, Mario born earlier this year on May 7th to their family to their beloved family pet Molly, who recently turned 11 years old. For such a little guy, he's got a lot to say!

Molly

Before we begin, I would like to introduce you to my big sister, Molly who is so sweet to me. She is 10 years old and knows a thing or two about our lovable family. We're companions. We keep each other company. Let's face it, I don't have after school sports, or class during the day - I don't even have a job outside of the home! When Molly was a puppy like me, the girls were so little so she bonded more with Mom and Dad. Today, I get to bond with everyone, but truth be told: I have Dad to thank. He saw so many dachshunds on a family vacation earlier this year and knew it was a sign. The girls agreed and ta da! Here I am! Molly and I are now the best of pals. Everyone has a somebody.

SUNFLOWER DACHSHUNDS
Kristy is my breeder from Sunflower Dachshunds in Ada, Michigan. When she first met my family, she told them I was pretty laid back and I would probably end up weighing about 12 pounds - a great weight if you ask me! I love to be held and sit in the girls' laps for car rides. From the start, when we were able to FaceTime before my adoption, and it didn't take long before they fell in love with me and I fell in love with them. The girls told Mom that she was now a YiaYia (grandma in Greek)! The girls take such good care of me, feeding, playing and walking me everyday. Life is good.

MOTIVATED BY FUN AND FOOD
I must tell you food motivates, especially treats. If someone mentions treats, I won't forget until I get them. Just ask. There are times when I like to grab Molly's toys so that everyone will chase me around the house. They laugh at my short legs that are deceiving: I can run really fast! This is just one example when I can secure a treat or two - when I stop and hand over Molly's toy. Crawling under the girls' beds is easy for me to do since I am so small. A great hiding place for me when I can't give up Molly's toy quite yet. You might find me under the couch if you can't find me. Just saying.

CRATE TIME AND ZOOMIES
One of my favorite places to be is in my crate, especially after I have my evening zoomies. I can't help myself but pounce like a bunny in front of everyone, demanding attention that encourage lots of giggles and smiles. Crate time usually follows with time to settle down in my small quiet space where I like to sleep in my favorite position: on my back.

WIGGLE WAGGLE
Since I am small, I can fit through our backyard fence. It has become a game. I don't plan on leaving but I do enjoy watching my family come running to try and catch me. Why would I ever run away when I've got it so good! So I'm a bit mischievous. I'm smart too. I make sure to love my family every chance I get just in case they need a reminder.

WADDLE YOU SAY?
I am long in body, so when I walk, I seem to waddle. I don't try to waddle, it just happens and, you know what? I have fun waddling so if you ever see me waddling along on a walk, be sure to stop and say hello. I'll do my best to greet you. Molly is teaching me so much: how to be respectful, how to share and how to listen when the girls are training me to sit, lie down and stay. It's easy because I just do what Molly does and that way, I can't go wrong. Some of the best down times are when me and Molly rest on our beds during the day and wait for the girls to come play.
