The Goldfish Who Went on Vacation
What began as a simple holiday tradition turned into an unexpected (and ongoing) pet story — complete with a road trip adventure.
Two years ago, two goldfish joined the Ravanfar family as part of the celebration of Nowruz, the Persian New Year. Traditionally, goldfish are included in the holiday display as a symbol of life and renewal. At the time, their new owners assumed the fish would be temporary guests, so they were placed in a small decorative bowl.
But weeks passed… and the fish kept swimming strong.
Soon, the little pair had proven they were here to stay.
A couple of months later, as the family was preparing for a trip to Dallas to visit a friend, a last-minute realization sparked a bit of panic: What about the fish? Leaving them behind didn’t feel right — and so, in a moment of true pet-parent commitment, the goldfish packed their bags (figuratively speaking) and hit the road.
Yes, these goldfish became road-trip travelers.
After their successful journey, it was clear they had earned an upgrade. The tiny bowl was retired and replaced with a proper tank, giving them plenty of room to swim and thrive.
Today, the two resilient little travelers are still happily swimming at home — healthy, well cared for, and perhaps quietly wondering when their next adventure might be.
Sometimes the most unexpected pets turn out to be the ones that make the biggest splash.
