Cozy Winter Spiced Pear Crisp

A warm, fragrant dessert to brighten chilly January evenings.

January pears are perfectly sweet and juicy, making them the star of this comforting dessert. Spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of ginger, this pear crisp fills your home with the coziest winter aroma.

Ingredients
For the filling:
  • 5–6 ripe pears, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
For the crisp topping:
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss sliced pears with lemon juice, brown sugar, spices, vanilla, and cornstarch. Spread into a greased baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the butter with a fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the pears.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling.
  6. Let cool slightly, then serve warm.
Serve With:
  • A scoop of vanilla ice cream
  • Whipped cream
  • Or a drizzle of caramel for extra indulgence
