Moultrie Welcomes Dr. Turner!

Moultrie Middle School is so excited to have Dr.Turner as our new 6th-grade Assistant Principal! He believes the students are the best thing about being at Moultrie Middle School. Dr. Turner joined Moultrie because he was so impressed with the administrators' and staff’s hearts and ideas for the students. Dr. Turner believes “Strong schools, especially middle and high schools, have the ability to change the course of disenfranchised communities economically and socially.”

Growing up, Dr. Turner constantly moved around the world because his father was in the military. He has lived in Texas, Washington, Colorado, Maryland, Germany, South Korea, Ohio, and Virginia. Dr. Turner recently moved from Virginia to the beautiful coast of Charleston, South Carolina. Dr. Turner originally went to college for Aerospace engineering as his major, but while in college, he established a low-cost, no-cost tutoring service for students. Through working with the children, he was touched and eventually fell in love with the ability to effect and change his community through education. While living in Virginia, Dr. Turner pursued a degree in education to become a teacher. He worked for the DC Public School district in Washington as an Assistant Principal at Johnson Middle School. He also worked as an assistant principal in Northern VA at Unity Reed High School and Gar-Field High School. Dr. Turner has many years of experience and earned his educational doctorate at Capella University.

Dr. Turner is so happy to be here and is looking forward to keeping our incredible test scores soaring! He would also like to develop strong student experiences with other middle schools across CCSD. He envisions students to have the capability to share ideas and experiences about what they see in the Charleston County School District in the future. Dr. Turner really loves teaching. His favorite part of the job is being able to talk about instruction and pedagogy with teachers and working with students to grow their ability to achieve academically and think critically about their behavior.

Outside of school, Dr.Turner enjoys watching Star Wars, reading, and spending time with his four children. Specifically, Dr. Turner enjoys reading African-American history and literature. He’s very excited to learn about the Gullah/Geechee history found in South Carolina. We hope you will join us in giving Dr. Turner a warm Lowcountry welcome. We wish him the best school year as our new 6th-grade Assistant Principal!
