For Alix and Geoff Dailey, the Old Village represents a full-circle journey that began with Alix’s time as a student at the College of Charleston. Alix, originally from Maryland, earned her degree in Arts Management with a minor in nonprofit finance before returning to the DC area to start her career. It was there she met Geoff, a Connecticut native and Franklin & Marshall graduate who played squash for his school and studied business and film. 

The two are an online dating success story. They met on Hinge before it was mainstream, and their first date landed on the hottest day of the year. It was an August Monday in DC… at an outdoor cocktail bar! “We survived and realized quickly that we both love to travel and have a passion for live music,” shared Alix. Just a week after meeting, they road-tripped to see David Byrne in Philadelphia. Shortly after that, Geoff joined Alix on a trip she had planned to Italy and France. The rest was history! After getting engaged, remote work during COVID made it possible for Alix and Geoff to make the move to Charleston. Their family had moved to the area a few years earlier, so it felt like the right time.

One of their most magical Old Village memories is their rehearsal dinner and welcome party at the Post House, a weekend that solidified their dream of living in the neighborhood. Initially living downtown, they moved to the Old Village in 2022 after a long search. “We found the best street on Rose Lane with the most wonderful neighbors and community. We welcomed our first child in December 2023 and I don’t think we would have survived that first year of parenthood without the community on our street,” Alix reflected. Between neighbors checking in and taking care of them, their two-year-old daughter, Liv, has had such a great community in the Old Village and will continue to grow up with the other families on Rose Lane. They are now preparing for a new chapter just a few streets over on Bank Street.

The Dailey household is a lively family of four, soon to be five. This number of course includes their four-year-old French Bulldog, Enzo. Liv loves riding her trike through the neighborhood, attending Soccer Shots, and visiting the Old Village Library almost every day after school for books and coloring. She is already practicing her big sister skills in anticipation of the family’s newest addition, a second child due this March. Rounding out the family is Enzo. True to his name, which means "ruler of the house," Enzo has a massive personality and is famous for sunbathing in the front yard and "screaming" or howling rather than barking. He is a frequent visitor to Brown Fox, where he is known to drain the treat jar sometimes twice a day.

Professionally, both Alix and Geoff have found success in the SaaS industry. Geoff oversees the Account Management team for the State and Local Government division at ID.me, a digital identity wallet. Alix serves as the Director of Business Development for Blackthorn.io, a Salesforce-native event management platform. Their professional drive is matched by their commitment to the community. Alix volunteers her time with the Lowcountry Foodbank, Habitat for Humanity, and Postpartum Support Charleston, while the family supports various local institutions including the Gibbes Museum, the Historic Preservation Society, Spoleto, the Charleston Children’s Museum, and the Aquarium.

The family’s daily life is deeply rooted in the local culture and the walkable nature of the Old Village. They are frequent visitors to coffee shops like Brown Fox and Summit Coffee and are often found at the Vintage and Coastal Crust playground on weekends. They enjoy local dining at the Post House patio, Iggy’s, and Ruby’s for bagels before heading to Alhambra to play. When venturing back downtown, their favorite lineup includes Babas or Bin 152 for an aperitivo, Melfi’s or Vern’s for a fun dinner, and Graft for a nightcap. An active lifestyle is a priority for the couple; Geoff belongs to the Charleston Squash Club and enjoys golf, while both utilize local fitness studios like The Old Village Gym, Barry’s Bootcamp, and The Works. They also cherish year-round trips to Sullivan’s Island and sunsets at the Pitt Street Bridge or Shem Creek.

The Dailey family enjoys the Mount Pleasant Farmer’s Market, holiday parades, and the festive atmosphere of Old Village Halloween. Thanksgiving often starts with the downtown Turkey Trot 5k followed by spending time with their family on Daniel Island. It’s been a tradition in recent years to mix it up and pick up Home Team BBQ as the foundation of their Thanksgiving meal, then adding in their classic side dishes. Summers and Christmases are spent with Alix’s extended family around St. Mary’s River on the Western Shore of Maryland. They even embrace the early morning sounds of the Cooper River Bridge Run, turning their home into a base camp for friends and neighbors running the race. “Our first year living here we didn’t realize that the start of the run was literally in our backyard. The sound check at 4am blasting Journey was something we’ll never forget!” As they prepare for their move to Bank Street, they remain incredibly grateful for the supportive community of neighbors that helped them navigate their first years of parenthood.
