Lily Pad Child & Adolescent Counseling
Brianna Henderson, LPC, RPT, CCPT, is the founder of Lily Pad Child & Adolescent Counseling, a child-centered counseling practice rooted in compassion, connection, and clinical excellence. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Child Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Dallas and her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas, specializing in play therapy. A Registered Play Therapist and Certified Child Centered Play Therapist, Brianna brings both deep expertise and heartfelt purpose to her work. Outside the office, she lives in a lively, love-filled home with her husband, two daughters, and her father-in-law—an environment that mirrors the warmth she strives to create for the families she serves.
Lily Pad Child & Adolescent Counseling was founded on a simple but powerful belief: healing begins with love. Through play therapy and genuine connection, the practice helps children feel seen, safe, and accepted so they can build confidence, develop coping skills, and grow into who they are meant to be. The name “Lily Pad” was inspired by Brianna’s daughter, Lily, and reflects the heart and intentionality behind the practice. While Brianna did not initially plan to start a group practice so early in her career, the opportunity presented itself and everything aligned. Taking a leap of faith, she launched Lily Pad, which has been blessed from the beginning and has grown into a team of five therapists, including Brianna.
Brianna was also driven by a desire to create a healthy, sustainable workplace for therapists. Having experienced both toxic and overly unstructured environments early in her career, she saw firsthand how poor support systems can harm clinicians and, ultimately, the families they serve. Lily Pad was intentionally designed to be a safe, balanced space not only for children and parents, but also for therapists. Brianna believes families can only receive the best care when therapists are genuinely supported, valued, and able to thrive in their roles.
Lily Pad Child & Adolescent Counseling specializes in Child Centered Play Therapy for children ages three to fourteen, as well as Child Parent Relationship Therapy, a structured ten-week program that teaches parents play therapy skills they can confidently use at home. The practice places a strong emphasis on collaboration with parents, offering complimentary parent intakes and consultations after every five child sessions. These meetings focus on progress, addressing concerns, and identifying practical ways families can support their child outside of therapy. Lily Pad works with children facing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, behavioral challenges, trauma, grief, ADHD, ODD, academic and school-related difficulties, social skill development, emotional regulation, self-esteem issues, developmental disorders, family conflict, sibling rivalry, and divorce or family transitions.
What truly sets Lily Pad apart is its intentional, child-centered philosophy and commitment to individualized care. The practice is grounded in the understanding that children communicate through play and that therapy must meet them at their developmental level. Lily Pad is also proudly family owned and operated. Brianna’s sister, Caitlin, serves as the office manager and plays a vital role in the practice’s success. Her compassion and organization ensure that families feel welcomed and supported from their very first phone call, allowing therapists to focus fully on providing high-quality care.
Drawing from her professional experience, Brianna encourages parents to view emotional and mental well-being as foundational to their child’s long-term health. Addressing concerns early, seeking support when needed, and approaching parenting with curiosity rather than perfection can have a lasting impact. She emphasizes that asking for help is not a sign of failure, but a reflection of deep care for one’s child and family.
Families consistently express trust and appreciation for the care they receive at Lily Pad. One parent shared, “My kids are happy to come to therapy, and I love the feedback I’m getting. I like that she takes the time to explain behaviors and helps me support my kids in the best way.” Another noted, “We not only trust Lily Pad implicitly with our daughter’s treatment, we know she will equip us with the necessary tools to move forward as a stronger family unit.” A third reflected, “The level of insight into how my teen thinks and processes assists our therapist in explaining our teen’s needs to each parent in ways we both understand. Her ability to advocate for him is unparalleled.” Together, these voices reflect the heart of Lily Pad Child & Adolescent Counseling—a place where children, parents, and therapists are all deeply cared for.
