Made in the Shade
Bringing Beauty Home: Jenni Devenny and the Art of the Perfect Window
For most people, window treatments are an afterthought, the final item on a long list of home decisions made under the hum of fluorescent lights in a big-box store. For Jenni Devenny, they are an art form, a relationship, and a calling.
Jenni is the owner and design consultant behind Made in the Shade Prosper Girl, a custom window treatment business she founded in 2018. But to understand what makes her business tick, you have to understand the woman behind it and that story begins long before the first shade was ever hung.
Prosper, Through and Through
Jenni Devenny has called Prosper Home since she was in third grade. She has watched this North Texas community transform from a quiet small town into one of the fastest-growing areas in the region, and she'll be the first to tell you that the hometown feeling hasn't gone anywhere.
"I've always had a passion for design, helping people, and building relationships," she says. "Today, I'm fortunate to combine all three."
Together with her husband Mike, Jenni is the proud parent in a blended family of six children ranging from high school age to college graduates. For years, their evenings were spent at ball fields, gyms, and school events four to six nights a week. It was that beautiful chaos, she says, that pushed her toward entrepreneurship.
"I wanted a career that would allow me to be present for those important moments while still pursuing my professional ambitions," Jenni explains. Made in the Shade Prosper Girl became the answer to that equation: a business built around her family, not in spite of it.
The Showroom Comes to You
What separates Jenni's approach from the competition is elegantly simple: she brings the experience directly to her clients. Rather than asking homeowners to make significant design decisions while staring at tiny samples under artificial store lighting, she arrives at their door with everything they need fabrics, colors, and product options so they can see exactly how each choice will look in their own space, alongside their own furnishings.
Her offerings are extensive. Made in the Shade Prosper Girl specializes in plantation shutters, roller shades, motorized and exterior shades, cellular and honeycomb shades, zebra shades, woven wood shades, blinds, drapery, and smart home-integrated window coverings. Each project includes a complimentary in-home design consultation, professional measuring, expert installation, and continued support after the job is complete.
But the product list is only part of the story. What clients consistently point to is the personal attention they receive throughout the process. "When you work with us, you're working directly with me," Jenni says. "My approach isn't about making a sale. It's about helping homeowners find the right solution for their lifestyle, budget, and design goals."
Built on Relationships
It's a philosophy reflected in how her business has grown. Referrals from satisfied clients are among the biggest drivers of new work, a testament, she says, to the relationships she builds along the way.
"Many of my clients become friends," Jenni notes. "I often tell clients that my job is to help them avoid costly mistakes and make decisions they'll still love years from now."
‘Professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly responsive.
'The installation was flawless, and we couldn't be happier with our motorized shades.'~ David R., Frisco
That long-term thinking extends to her advice for homeowners more broadly. "Don't underestimate the impact window treatments have on your home," she says. "The right window coverings can dramatically improve comfort, privacy, energy efficiency, and the overall appearance of a space. They are often one of the last design decisions homeowners make, but they can have one of the biggest impacts."
Her guidance is straightforward: think long-term, choose quality, and work with experienced professionals. "It often saves money and frustration in the long run," she adds.
‘Jenni did a fantastic job from start to finish! We built a new home and she did window treatments for every room. She was very thorough and so pleasant to work with during the entire process.’~Kimberly, Frisco
Looking Ahead
As demand for motorized shades, exterior living solutions, and smart home integration continues to climb across North Texas, Jenni is well-positioned for the next chapter. She serves clients throughout Prosper, Celina, Frisco, McKinney, and surrounding communities, and her sights are set on continued growth without ever losing the personalized touch that defines her brand.
"My focus remains the same," she says. "Helping families create beautiful, functional homes while delivering a level of service that exceeds expectations."
That focus is also evident in the partnerships she keeps. Jenni frequently collaborates with Interior Painting by Jammi, a local specialist in interior painting, custom coffered walls, decorative trim work, and feature wall designs. The two businesses complement each other naturally Jammi's craftsmanship and Devenny's custom window treatments working in tandem to help homeowners achieve a cohesive, polished look throughout their spaces.
"Together, we help transform ordinary rooms into stunning, personalized spaces," Jenni says. It's a partnership that reflects her larger belief: that strong local businesses build strong communities.
A Motto to Live By
Ask Jenni what drives her and she won't reach for corporate language or industry buzzwords. Her personal motto is three simple rules: know everyone, have great taste, and get things done.
It's a philosophy she brings to every project and every client relationship and if the growth of Made in the Shade Prosper Girl is any indication, it's one that resonates deeply with the community she has called home her entire life.
"I genuinely love what I do," she says. "Helping people create beautiful spaces, building lasting relationships, and serving the community I've called home for most of my life is incredibly rewarding."
