The Palos Lions Club sponsors two youth groups, known as Leo Clubs: The Leo Club of

Palos and the Leo Club of Chicago Christian High School. The Palos Lions Club and its two

Leo Clubs recently worked together at a volunteer “Serve Day” at the Lake Katherine Nature

Center and Botanic Gardens in Palos Heights. Members learned about native and invasive

vegetation from Gareth Blakesly, the Director and Chief Naturalist at Lake Katherine Nature

Center. The volunteers of Palos Lions and Leo Clubs helped clear invasive vegetation, trim

native plants, and spread mulch along walking paths. The Palos Lions and Leo Clubs enjoyed

working together to help beautify a local nature center and give back to the Palos Community.
