Feather Thief Fly Fishing: Steal the Moment and Craft Lasting Memories

Pull Quote:
“The relationships you forge and what you learn from those interactions, that’s what brings meaning.  An understanding of the trout, the trees, the water and the wind will enable you to unlock the wisdom of fly fishing. These things I share willingly to those who wish to learn.”

Deck:
For many, the quiet allure of fly fishing is something you may have seen in a movie or a dream; a vision of serene waters, the graceful toss of the line, and the thrill of the catch. But how and where do you begin to share in that serenity? Parkwood Knolls neighbor Scott Harness, a lifelong Edina resident, real estate professional, and passionate angler, has created Feather Thief Fly Fishing to help answer that question. He doesn’t just teach people to fish; he helps you "steal the moment" and create lasting memories.

Body
Scott has been a real estate professional for over 36 years and four years ago he decided to turn his longtime passion of fly-fishing into a side business that caters to beginners and experienced anglers alike. "Most of my clients have always wanted to learn to fly fish or tried it once on a vacation and really enjoyed it, Scott explains." So how can he help others take more moments to enjoy the sport he loves? Someone can learn how to tie a fly or learn fly casting techniques before wading into the water. And the best part? He can take you fly fishing for trout less than an hour and a half from Edina!

From Hobby to Helping Others
As a former IGFA world recorder holder – from Brook Trout to Billfish, Scott has caught all types of fish over the past four decades. The transition from personal passion to professional endeavor stemmed from a simple realization. “I have fly fished for over 40 years and discovered I enjoyed helping people catch their first trout as much as I enjoyed catching them myself," Scott says. This desire to share the joy of fly fishing is at the heart of Feather Thief Fly Fishing.

The waters of the Northern Driftless are the streams Scott likes to call home. He enjoys the chance to meet new people and teach others of all ages and backgrounds to tie, cast and watch the flies float on the water before the catch. Guiding allows Scott “a chance to meet new people and teach them more about relationships than catching the “big one”.”

More Than Just Fishing
Feather Thief Fly Fishing offers a comprehensive experience that extends beyond the basic cast or guided tour. Scott offers a variety of ways to experience fly fishing and all it has to offer including:

  • Guided Fly Fishing Trips: Experience custom curated "walk and wade" adventures in the beautiful driftless region of western Wisconsin and Southeast Minnesota.

Scott's expertise is widely acknowledged within the fly-fishing community both locally and around the world.
