No ordinary seven-year-old, Arnold Tong, a bright and adventurous student at Starwood Academy, eagerly embraces every opportunity to thrive in his extracurricular activities. From Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and piano lessons to swimming and chess, he makes the most of every opportunity. 

Arnold's journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu started at just four and a half when he began training at Diamondback Jiu-Jitsu. Now, he trains four days a week alongside his dad and friends. His hard work has paid off, earning him gold and bronze medals in competitions. Arnold dreams of one day achieving the black belt, not just as an accomplishment but to protect those who matter most to him. 

When he’s not on the mats, Arnold can often be found in the water. He’s been swimming since he was three years old and hopes to join a Frisco competition team soon. Arnold also enjoys playing the piano and chess, which he approaches as fun hobbies to balance his active lifestyle. 

One of Arnold’s favorite memories is a family trip to Gatorland in Orlando, Florida. Initially scared of alligators from watching YouTube videos, Arnold overcame his fear by holding a baby alligator. He found it funny rather than scary, a moment that gave him a new sense of bravery—and a great story to share! 

Arnold looks up to his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor, Professor Matt Jones, who inspires him with his skill, dedication, and kindness. Seeing the dedication, it takes to earn a black belt motivates Arnold to stay committed to his training. 

As for the future, Arnold is still exploring his options—his parents think he might become an engineer or lawyer, given his creativity and love of debating. For now, he dreams of visiting Japan to experience the Godzilla ride and Vietnam to enjoy pho with his mom’s family. 

With his adventurous spirit and dedication to his passions, Arnold Tong is proving that age is just a number when it comes to achieving great things in life.
