Baby It's Cold Outside!
Pinehillians and Great Islanders alike were invited to 'Welcome Winter', amid the rousing song of The Glee Club, as 2025 came to a close.
The Glee Club of the Pinehills, directed by Barbara Durham, enthusiastically welcomed the chilly season over the first, frosty weekend of December with three sold-out performances of “Welcome Winter.” This delightful holiday concert entertained audiences with songs like “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm,” “The Very Best Time of Year,” “Winter Wonderland” and many, many more.
The highlight of the concert was the rendition of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” performed by four married couples, the DeCarlos, Finnegans, Gallaghers, and Schades, (all Pinehills residents and Glee Club members). Their colorful singing brought the house to their feet with enthusiastic cheers and applause.
During a more subtle portion of the program the audience was surprised with a recording of Robert Frost’s recitation of his haunting poem, “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” The recitation was followed by the Glee Club singing the verses set to lush music by composer, Victor C. Johnson.
Also entertaining was Assistant Director and Accompanist Claudia Hopewell’s conducting debut in the familiar “Carol of the Bells,” which was beautifully performed by the chorus acapella style.
The Glee Club wishes to thank all those who attended and sincerely hopes that the concert left you with a renewed sense of holiday spirit and a big smile on your face. Happy winter!
