Duck Dog Diaries: Piper Boedeker
She’s trained, talented, and totally toy-obsessed with a heart as big as her bark.

Meet Piper Boedeker, a three-year-old black Labrador from S. Saint Andrews Drive who’s as much a cuddly companion as she is a focused duck hunter. Piper lives with her fun-loving family who have called Northwest Arkansas home for over 23 years and have enjoyed the Pinnacle Country Club community for nearly four.
“Having friends already living here made moving to Pinnacle feel like coming home,” her owner shared. “And it’s been such a joy meeting new neighbors and making more friendships. We love spending time at all the gathering spots Pinnacle has to offer. My husband especially loves hitting the golf course as often as possible!”
A Name with Sass and a Heart of Gold
Piper is the perfect blend of sporty and sweet—living up to the Lab reputation of being loyal family members and skilled sporting dogs. But Piper’s story began during a season of heartbreak. “We’ve always had a dog in our life,” Tracy, Piper’s human mom, explained. “After losing our last one, we weren’t sure we could go through that heartache again. But one day, while walking through our beautiful neighborhood and seeing everyone out with their dogs, I realized how much I missed that joy. I told my husband, and the next thing I knew, he was on the phone with a friend who had just mentioned a litter that was going to be available. And that’s how Piper became a part of our family.”
Naming her came just as naturally. “We have to give credit to our friend Jerry,” they laughed. “Once he said ‘Piper,’ we knew it was the one. When you hear that name, you think of something spunky, sassy, and adorable and she’s all of that and more!”
Field Star by Day, Toy Destroyer by Night
Piper isn’t just a pretty face, she’s a trained duck-hunting machine. “When she puts on her camo vest and loads up in the Ranger, she gets hyper-focused,” her owner shared proudly. “She comes from a long line of duck-hunting dogs and has been trained by Keith at Retriever Ridge Kennels, which really helped hone her instincts. She truly loves it.”
Off the field, Piper Boedeker is a toy destroyer extraordinaire. “We’re constantly rotating new ones in and out. But every night, like clockwork, she stares into your soul until she gets her special dental chew—she knows the exact time!”
Piper has mastered the basics—sitting, shaking, and spinning—all with an enthusiastic tail wag in exchange for a treat.
Piper’s Favorite Places and Playmates
Piper’s charm extends beyond her home turf. One of the Boedeker family's favorite memories is her first lake trip. “We had the water mat out, and she was just going crazy running around on it, tumbling off, and getting plopped back on. She was in her biting phase then, so we started calling her ‘Piper the Viper.’ We can definitely laugh about it now!”
She loves golf course walks, ball chasing during off-hours, and greeting every pup she passes. Piper even has a crew at the lake house—sweet Gunner and little Ruby, who’s joining the gang this summer. And don’t forget her favorite morning routine: walks to Heroes Coffee!
If Piper could dream up her perfect day, it would no doubt include a morning full of duck retrieves, an afternoon of golf course zoomies, and a grand finale of treats and chews served on a silver platter.
