Dr. Nick Yiannios
Innovating Dental Care with Science, Art, and Holistic Approaches By Heather Crosser
A Journey of Excellence
In the heart of Northwest Arkansas, Dr. Nick Yiannios has become a beacon of innovative dental care, combining a passion for science and art to elevate patient experiences. As a first-generation American with Greek and German roots, Dr. Nick’s journey is a testament to dedication and excellence. A 1993 graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio Dental School (DDS) and holding a B.S. in Microbiology from Texas A&M University, Dr. Nick brings over three decades of dental practice to our community.
Pioneering Dental Science
Dr. Nick’s career path began in Dallas, where he honed his skills for two years before moving to the Branson area in Missouri, where he practiced for 20 years. For the past nine years, he has been serving the Rogers community, alongside his wife Valana Kezhaya Yiannios, who also manages the office. Together, they share a blended family of four sons: Christian and Alex, both supply chain graduates from the University of Arkansas, and Nathan and Matthew, both attorneys with degrees from UMKC and the University of Arkansas, respectively.
As a solo private practitioner, Dr. Nick is not only a clinician but also a researcher, author, and lecturer. He is the founder of the internationally recognized Center for Neural Occlusion (CNO), an organization dedicated to advancing dental education through cutting-edge procedures and techniques. Dr. Nick’s pioneering work has led to significant discoveries in dental science, including the identification of Frictional Dental Hypersensitivity (FDH), a condition linking bite discrepancies to chronic tooth sensitivity. His research has been widely published in dental literature, and he has authored textbook chapters and numerous peer-reviewed studies on topics such as FDH, TMJ MRI and CBCT imaging, and digital occlusal analysis.
Innovating Dental Procedures
Dr. Nick’s commitment to education is evident in his ongoing lecture schedule, which includes upcoming presentations at the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT), Fotona Lasers Scientific Symposium, Ozone Frontiers, and a local CNO course in NWA. His practice offers unique procedures rarely found in this region, such as TMJ MRI imaging combined with CT scans, same-day porcelain cosmetic veneers using CAD/CAM technology, and Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) treatments for accelerated healing in periodontal therapy.
A Holistic Approach to Dentistry
A strong advocate of holistic and common-sense dental practices, Dr. Nick avoids the use of mercury amalgams, opting for safer materials like zirconia for dental implants. His approach to dentistry includes extensive use of laser technology, both hard and soft tissue lasers, significantly reducing the need for local anesthesia and drills for many procedures.
Community Commitment
Dr. Nick and Valana are not only dedicated to their practice but also to their community. They actively participate in local charities and contribute to organizations that align with their values. The practice's resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic, through the implementation of innovative safety protocols, has strengthened their commitment to patient and staff safety.
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead, Dr. Nick is excited about continuing to serve the NWA community, with plans to contribute further to dental science through ongoing research and publication. This summer, he will add another chapter to a dental textbook and co-author a new scientific theory on sympathetic dental hypersensitivity (SDH).
Dr. Nick Yiannios’s practice stands as a paragon of excellence, driven by a fusion of art and science. His dedication to providing state-of-the-art, holistic, and metric-driven dental care is evident in every aspect of his work, ensuring that the residents of NWA receive unparalleled service.
