Havenwood's Mission of Hope

Empowering Single Moms and Their Children

Tucked right in the heart of Northwest Arkansas for over 30 years, Havenwood has quietly and powerfully impacted the lives of countless single mothers and their children. With a mission rooted in empowerment, the nonprofit provides a two-year transitional housing program designed to guide families from crisis to self-sufficiency.

“Our mission is to create a safe environment and provide essential resources that cultivate a supportive community,” says Mary Kate Provost, Director of Marketing and Community Engagement. “It’s about empowering these resilient moms to meet their family’s needs and break generational cycles.”

Havenwood’s program specifically supports single mothers with one or two children under the age of ten, offering them not just shelter, but life-changing tools—budgeting guidance, job readiness coaching, and access to a compassionate network of support. The journey is not always easy, but the results are life-affirming.

“The women we serve inspire me to be a better person every day,” Mary Kate shares. “Their strength and determination are incredible. This job is so rewarding, especially when we get to witness our moms thrive.”

Mary Kate joined the Havenwood team in August of 2024, driven by a passion for nonprofit work and a desire to give back to the community. In her role, she manages marketing, volunteer coordination, pantry donations, and community service projects—all with an eye toward meaningful engagement.

“We love being in this community,” she says. “Everyone is so generous and encouraging. Our biggest challenges are often financial needs and keeping our pantries stocked, but the people of NWA never cease to show up.”

And there are many ways to get involved. Whether it's by donating pantry items, volunteering at events, or offering professional expertise in areas like resume-building or financial planning, community members are at the very heart of Havenwood’s impact.

A wonderful opportunity to support this mission is the annual “Havenwoods & Irons” Golf Tournament, coming up on September 18th at Dogwood Golf Course in Bella Vista. Additionally, Havenwood hosts three internal holiday events for its families each year and is always grateful for donations and volunteer support to make these occasions special.
