Keeping Summer Safe: Meet Brooklyn, One of Planterra Ridge's Outstanding Lifeguards

From keeping swimmers safe to building lasting connections with neighborhood families, Brooklyn's dedication and positive spirit make her an invaluable part of the Planterra Ridge community.

For many Planterra Ridge families, summer isn't complete without afternoons at the neighborhood pool. While children race to the pool, friends gather to cool off, and neighbors catch up poolside, there's one familiar face helping make it all possible, Brooklyn, one of Planterra Ridge's dedicated lifeguards.
Originally from Louisiana, Brooklyn is currently studying biology at the College of Charleston, where she plans to pursue a career as an assistant of anesthesiology. Although her future is in healthcare, she is already making a meaningful impact by keeping neighborhood families safe while creating a welcoming atmosphere at the community pool.
Being a lifeguard is about much more than sitting in a tall chair with a whistle. It requires constant focus, quick decision-making, and a commitment to keeping everyone safe. Every shift demands vigilance, responsibility, and confidence, and Brooklyn approaches each day with professionalism and a calm, reassuring presence.
Brooklyn is the oldest of three siblings and shares a close bond with her younger brother, younger sister, and her mom. At home, she's also kept company by two lovable Chihuahua mixes, Larry and Randy, who always bring a smile to her face after a long day.
When she's not working or studying, Brooklyn enjoys staying active. Swimming is naturally one of her favorite pastimes, but she also loves playing pickleball, practicing the harmonica, and spending time with friends, especially if it includes an ice cream outing. To unwind, she enjoys relaxing by the pool, taking long walks, or watching her favorite television series, Stranger Things.
As a familiar face during many evening shifts, Brooklyn has built genuine relationships in Planterra Ridge. She especially enjoys chatting with families and says one of the best parts of her job is seeing the kids get excited when they arrive at the pool. Those daily interactions have made her feel like an important part of the community.
When she's craving a great meal close to home, you'll likely find Brooklyn at Casa Vieja enjoying her favorite Mexican dishes, especially the chips and queso.
Working as a lifeguard has taught Brooklyn valuable lessons in leadership, responsibility, and communication. More importantly, it has allowed her to serve her community while developing skills that will benefit her future career in healthcare.
As another successful pool season comes to a close, Planterra Ridge is grateful for young leaders like Brooklyn, whose dedication often goes unnoticed but never unappreciated. Thank you, Brooklyn, for your watchful eyes, positive attitude, and commitment to keeping our neighborhood pool a safe, fun place for families to enjoy. Your kindness, professionalism, and genuine care for others truly make a difference, and we're fortunate to have you and the amazing team of lifeguards, as part of the Planterra Ridge community
