ROCK SOLID: School of Rock Changes Lives, One Chord at a Time

For some, music is a hobby. For Chuck and Donna Silber, it’s a lifelong calling – and the heartbeat behind School of Rock Northern Colorado, a thriving music school with locations in Fort Collins and Loveland.

The Silbers, married for over 30 years and having attended more than 300 concerts together, have built much more than a business—they’ve built a movement. A movement that empowers kids, teens, and adults through the transformative magic of rock 'n' roll, changing lives in the process.

“I’ve been a musician all my life,” Chuck said. “I was in a band in my early twenties, and music has always been there for me. When Donna and I saw the opportunity to bring School of Rock to a place we truly fell in love with, it felt like the universe aligned.”

That place was right here in Northern Colorado. The Silbers had long admired Colorado for its creative energy, engaged families, and passion for the arts. In 2019, they moved to Colorado, breaking ground on their first School of Rock location in Fort Collins in 2020. The school has flourished, building community along the way. In early 2024, they opened a second School of Rock location in Loveland.

This isn’t your typical music school. It’s a patented, performance-based curriculum built on more than 25 years of experience. Students as young as three and as old as 90 are immersed in a fun, positive, and hands-on learning environment.

“We believe that just like in sports, musicians need to play the game, not just practice,” Chuck said. “Our students perform with their peers at real venues. Their recitals are full-on rock concerts, and everyone loves it. It’s truly magic to see their hard work come together on stage.”

For the Northern Colorado School of Rock team, it’s more than music. They’re on a mission to impact lives and make a difference in our community through the joy and growth that music brings to people’s lives. At School of Rock, students are part of something bigger. The adult band program has five active bands, and both locations serve over 500 engaged families.

“We’ve built this community with the help of talented, passionate local musicians. Our team isn't just here to teach – they’re here to inspire,” Chuck added. And that’s what they do. They’ve created a whole circle of people who enjoy learning music and playing together.

At the heart of School of Rock Northern Colorado is a passionate staff of 20+ full-time teachers and a rock-solid leadership team. Donna runs the day-to-day operations as Regional General Manager of both locations, bringing warmth, organization, and a deep love for education to the table. Chuck helps coordinate the live concerts and works behind the scenes to ensure the school's success.

Also key to the magic is Jordan Pasquin, Regional Music Director and one of the most respected drummers in the local music scene. His expertise and deep local ties bring authenticity and energy to every program.

“We’ve never wanted to just build a business,” Chuck says. “This is a community. It’s about changing people’s lives. Music school doesn’t just make better musicians – it helps make better humans.”

Chuck knows that walking into a music school for the first time can be intimidating. The team understands that. They’ve gone out of their way to build a space that is welcoming, inclusive, and supportive.

“We always say to parents and kids: don’t be scared,” Chuck said. “This isn’t a place for competition. It’s a place where people lift each other up. Everyone belongs here. And everyone has something to add to the beat.”

They offer free trial lessons and tours to help people get a feel for the space and program. Save the date for their annual open house on January 10, 2026, at Loveland School from 1 - 4 pm. This event is a great way to see what School of Rock is all about.

School of Rock Northern Colorado is also deeply committed to giving back. One of their most cherished partnerships is with Realities for Children, a local nonprofit organization that supports youth in need, as well as numerous local schools.

“From the beginning, we wanted to be involved in something bigger than ourselves,” Chuck said. “Giving back through music is one of the most rewarding things we do. Music has been instrumental in our lives, and we want to give people the opportunity to experience it for themselves.”
