Halloween Lighting Contest Winner!

The Caprarolas Light Up Highland Hills with Halloween Spirit!

In Highland Hills, where the yards are spacious and the sense of community runs deep, one family has turned heads (and lit them up in orange and purple). The Caprarolas, who have called the neighborhood home since early 2023, are the proud winners of this year’s Halloween Lighting Contest—sponsored by Blingle! Premier Lighting of Northern Colorado. Their brilliantly lit home has added an extra touch of magic to the community this season.

“We moved here because we wanted our kids to have space to run and play, and this neighborhood had everything we were looking for,” Jackie shared. “It’s peaceful, the yards are big, and we’re still close to everything.”

While the family typically keeps Halloween decorations cozy and centered indoors, with fall-themed porch décor and kid-made crafts, their recent contest win has taken things to the next level. This year, thanks to the team at Blingle!, the exterior of their home has been transformed into a festive masterpiece of light and color.

“Normally, we keep the outside pretty simple—some pumpkins, mums, and jack-o’-lanterns on Halloween night,” said Jackie. “But after winning the Halloween lighting contest, we’ve loved having the outdoor lights so much that this might be the start of a new tradition!”

The surprise win came as a shock to the whole family. “We don’t usually win things,” Jackie laughed. “Eric got the call while he was at work, and we all listened to the voicemail together at dinner. The kids didn’t understand what it meant right away, but once they realized what was happening, they were so excited.”

Now, each evening feels a little more magical. “We love coming home and seeing the house all lit up in orange and purple,” Jackie added.

For Eric and Jackie’s daughters, Avery (almost 7) and Charlotte (almost 5), Halloween is all about the fun—and the treats. “Avery says she loves trick-or-treating the most,” Jackie said. “Charlotte’s favorite part is eating all the candy.” Their son, Grayson (1.5), loves taking in the colorful lights every evening. The whole family enjoys planning costumes together, carving pumpkins, and exploring community events like trick-or-treating at The Farm or Pumpkins on Parade. “Avery already has costume ideas planned out for the next two years,” Jackie added with a smile.

When asked what makes Halloween so special, Jackie pointed to the sense of connection, and not just within the family. Their neighbor, Karen Kendall, nominated them for the contest, a gesture that meant a lot.

“We really appreciate having neighbors like Karen who are thinking of our family and want to make things extra special,” Jackie said. “It means a lot to be remembered. Karen always goes above and beyond to make holidays fun for the neighborhood, and we’re so grateful for her.”
