Lumber Jack & Jill Tree Service

“We’re passionate about trees. Health and longevity is our goal. We help you take care of them so they stay around for the long term. It’s honest work, and we do an honest job,” said John Schmidt, Co-Owner of Lumber Jack & Jill Tree Service.

For the Schmidt family, trees are their business. They provide honest, affordable, and upfront tree care throughout Northern Colorado, including the Ptarmigan Hill and Highland Meadows neighborhoods.

The Schmidts hail from Mississippi and have a lengthy background in agriculture and farming. “Trees are much like the crops we used to farm,” John explained. “They get the same kinds of diseases and need similar care. We’re used to working with our hands and being outside. Trees make sense to us.”

They moved to Colorado about eight years ago in search of a more temperate climate. Not long after moving, a friend shared an opportunity with them that was too good to pass up. The owners of Lumber Jack & Jill Tree Service, an established tree service, were ready to retire. John knew this would be a great fit.

It’s now a family affair. John is the General Manager overseeing the high-level operations of the business. His wife, Melanie, manages the business operations, including payroll, invoicing, and human relations. Their son, Lane, is the Operations Manager. He’s a certified arborist and tree climber who works with customers and helps determine how to best care for the property. Taylor, the oldest son, is the Crew Lead, overseeing all jobs.

In the years since the Schmidts took over Lumber Jack & Jill Tree Service, they’ve made it their own. “We are just passionate about trees,” Lane said. “We pay attention to detail and do what’s right by our clients. We listen to their needs and communicate well every step of the way so there are no surprises.”

“Our team goes above and beyond,” said Melanie. “We get notes in the mail thanking us for doing a good job and cleaning up the yard after the job is complete. It’s gratifying to hear that people think highly of our team.”

Lumber Jack & Jill Tree Service manages thousands of trees annually. Its team of tree experts includes certified tree climbers and certified arborists trained and knowledgeable in all aspects of tree care and arboriculture. Much of its work comes from personal referrals.

“We’re on a first-name basis with our clients,” John added. “They’re more than just a customer, and it’s more than just a tree. We build relationships and want to continue serving our clients as long as they own the property.”

Lane notes that they do more than just trees. “Some companies only do the big trees, but we’re here to help you with your whole yard. We can help with your bushes, shrubs, and smaller trees. We do it all,” Lane said.

As spring finally awakes, the Lumber Jack & Jill Tree Service team is here for all your spring cleaning projects. “Winter can be a stressful time for trees,” Lane said. “The heavy snow and dry, cold weather can be detrimental to the health and aesthetics of trees and bushes. We have the expertise to get them back to health so you can enjoy your beautiful yard all summer.”

“Trees are a big part of any home and property,” John said. “We appreciate the trust our clients have placed in us. We look forward to growing our business and serving more families along the Front Range.
