Masters Petersens Flooring & Design is built on a strong sense of community and a passion for creating lasting style. As a locally owned and operated company, they understand the character of the community they serve – and it shows in every thoughtfully designed space and every floor they touch. Their commitment to personalized touch, excellent customer service, and quality craftsmanship ensures that each project not only reflects the homeowner’s vision but also stands the test of time. At Masters Petersens, local pride and timeless design come together to transform houses into homes.
“Our core value is and has always been doing the right thing by our customers,” said Rick Owen, owner of Masters Petersens Flooring & Design. “We don’t cut corners to win work. We do a good job every time. We do it the right way. And that shows in our reviews and the way our customers refer us and keep coming back. Our goal is to make sure our customers are happy and satisfied. That’s the priority. The rest follows.”
Founded in Windsor in 2008, Masters quickly became a trusted name across Northern Colorado. In 2012, the company expanded its expertise by acquiring Petersens Flooring, uniting the two brands into Masters Petersens Flooring & Design. The combined team grew into a regional leader in flooring and design, while still maintaining its commitment to quality craftsmanship and personalized service. As demand increased, they relocated to a larger commercial space in Fort Collins – an important step during a time of rapid growth.
By 2020, the call of home brought them back to Windsor. “With the growth of Windsor, we just felt like it was time to come back,” Rick shared. “We took the chance to open an amazing showroom and ground ourselves here. We’re so glad we made the move. We’re home.” Their return not only reconnected them with their roots but also reaffirmed their commitment to the community that helped shape their success.
Today, Masters Petersens delivers a true masterclass in flooring and design for both residential and commercial clients. They offer a curated selection of premium products – tile, carpet, hardwood, and luxury vinyl – paired with boutique-level design guidance to ensure every customer finds the perfect fit. Installations are handled in-house and meticulously overseen to meet their high standards. Their Windsor showroom, located near the intersection of Eastman Park Drive and Highway 257, invites customers to explore, imagine, and experience the full array of possibilities firsthand.
Last year, Ashley Sample rejoined the Masters team as the Business Development Officer. She previously worked for Masters several years ago, before leaving to work as a sales representative for a flooring company. “She has a ton of experience and a good eye,” Rick said. “We always stayed connected, and I told her if she ever wanted to come back, I’d have her. Things finally aligned, and we’re so glad to have her on the team again.”
Ashley helps manage projects and is often one of the first people clients meet. She’s warm, friendly, and certainly has the experience to guide clients through the process. “She’s the best resource for clients,” Rick added. “She can take an idea and run with it. People love working with her.”
Rick’s wife, Julie, also recently joined the Masters team, serving as their accountant. This move signals Masters’ commitment to being a family-run business. The team is rounded out by Natalie Anderson, a design coordinator and residential project engineer. Andrew Ferris is their lead estimator. Rick Bentzinger is the field manager, and Derek Norris is the warehouse manager. Their team of installers is top-notch, finishing every job with the same commitment to service and quality.
Together, the Masters Petersens Flooring & Design team brings decades of experience to every project. “We’re very team-oriented people,” Rick said. “Everyone here works hard to make sure our customers are satisfied. This team truly lives our core values and always strives to do the right thing.”
A large part of their work comes from flooring projects in schools, hospitals, and tenant-occupied commercial spaces. “We’re seeing a lot of companies return to working in-person,” Rick detailed. “We’re doing a lot of space refreshes and new builds. It’s exciting to support the community this way.”
Rick and Julie’s son, Jackson (15), spends his summers working in the warehouse and helping drive efficiency for the team. Their daughter, Harper (13), will soon earn her stripes at the family business as well. Both of their kids are competitive hockey players, so much of the family’s time is spent at the rink. They support Windsor schools and give back to many local organizations.
