Meet the Hale Family
The Hale Family has lived in Heydon Hall for nearly a decade. Steve and Jennifer Hale, along with their four children Max, Luke, Addie, and Zach, have fallen in love with Heydon Hall’s warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Steve Hale is originally from Eden, North Carolina, before he relocated to Charlotte in the early 2000s to work for Bank of America. Steve attended Wake Forest University, where he studied Economics, Religion, and Philosophy while also playing on the football team. Steve currently manages Hale Partnership, a private equity firm that invests in insurance, medical and government real estate, and furniture.
Jenn was raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, before attending North Carolina State University and studying Biochemistry and Genetics. She furthered her education by earning her medical degree from East Carolina University. Jenn works as a physician with Atrium Health. She completed her General Surgery residency and followed that up with her Surgical Critical Care fellowship, both at Atrium Health.
When the Hales first moved into Heydon Hall, they had already had their first child, Max, and Jenn was pregnant with their second child, Luke. Since then, they have welcomed Addie and Zach into their family.
Max, aged 11, loves to read and play soccer, chess, and golf. Nine-year-old Luke is described by his mother as a renaissance man. He enjoys working out, gardening, crocheting, and is the best helper around the house. You can find Luke in front of the neighborhood selling honey from the Hale’s bees, which they keep in their backyard. The Hales have around 50,000 bees in a beehive in their backyard. Their beehive gives the bees a safe home, which is important due to the bees’ crucial role in the environment. Max and Luke also both enjoy playing soccer at the Charlotte Soccer Academy.
Addie, 6, loves animals, including horses and cats, and loves doing gymnastics, riding horses, dancing, and is currently learning the piano. Zach is the youngest at age 3. He is the wild man of the family who loves to dance, laugh, and climb anything he can. Zach and Luke enjoy climbing a large magnolia tree in their backyard, where they look for lizards and other interesting creatures.
All of the Hale children attend Anami Montessori School. Jenn was taught in a Montessori school in her youth and has been fortunate to gift her children the same type of education she was exposed to as a student.
As a group, the Hale family loves to travel, garden, tend to the beehive, exercise, play chess, and spend time with their family. Jenn’s sister and brother-in-law, Valerie and Chris Morris, live less than a mile away and the kids love living so close to their cousins.
As a family, the Hales have had the opportunity to learn about different cultures, languages, food, history, and geography through their many incredible vacations. The entire family’s favorite destination is Sea Island, Georgia. Sea Island is a mainstay on the calendar of the Hale Family, and they return multiple times a year. Some of their favorite activities include relaxing walks on the beach, shell hunting on the sands, watching stunning sunsets over the Georgia marshes,
frequenting the Wonderland Candy Shoppe, boogie boarding, and family game night in the cottage.
Jenn and Steve love to take their own vacation to Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee. The farm is home to picturesque mountain views, extraordinary people, and delicious food. It is the perfect getaway for them to reflect on their life and spend meaningful time together.
One of their favorite travel stories occurred in a desert town outside Marrakech, Morocco, in 2019. The town was named Agafay, and the activity this time was a sunset camel ride. The rolling sand hills of the Sahara stretched out for miles as the fiery red-orange sun set over the desert. Another favorite spot is Sea Glass Beach in St. Kitts, where they collected sea glass along with many other ocean treasures.
While in Charlotte, the Hales have enjoyed watching the Panthers and Charlotte FC while also rooting for their respective alma maters, Wake Forest and N.C. State. Jenn participates in the neighborhood as the Chair of the Children’s Social Committee, where she and the other committee members plan fun events for the children and grandchildren of Heydon Hall. The Hale family is appreciative of the neighborhood events, especially the infamous “Movie Night on the Green” event where the sprinklers went off mid-movie!
Jenn and Steve are proud to raise their children in such a caring and thoughtful community. They have met lots of wonderful families in Heydon Hall and appreciate the hard work the homeowners association puts into keeping the neighborhood safe and beautiful.
One of their passion projects is the Hale Family Foundation, which supports various organizations in the Charlotte community. They have been fortunate to support Claire’s Army, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Hearts Without Borders, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Steve, Jenn, Max, Luke, Addie, and Zach are looking forward to many more adventures in their travels across the world and growing together in the tranquil serenity of Heydon Hall.
