iCode Troy: Shaping the Future of STEM Learning in Our Community
Submited by Steven Szalanski
Located at 2914 W Maple Road in Troy, iCode Troy stands as Michigan’s very first iCode location and a beacon for modern STEM education. Founded by Birmingham resident and father of three, Pratheep Sevanthinathan, the center was created with a clear mission: to make high-quality STEM learning accessible, exciting, and enriching for families throughout the region. With curriculum accredited by STEM.org and a national reputation for excellence, iCode Troy has quickly become a trusted resource for students eager to explore technology in meaningful ways.
At the heart of iCode Troy is a team of passionate computer science and engineering enthusiasts who are deeply committed to sparking curiosity in young minds. Their approach blends hands-on learning with a warm, energetic environment that keeps students engaged and motivated. Whether a child is discovering coding for the first time or diving into advanced robotics or AI concepts, the center provides an atmosphere where learning feels like an adventure—not a requirement.
iCode offers a robust range of weekly classes and day camps in STEM, coding, robotics, game design, and artificial intelligence. Flexible scheduling allows families to maintain long-term learning goals even as sports seasons, extracurriculars, and school demands shift throughout the year. In addition to classes, families enjoy access to Game Nights, birthday parties, and a rotation of specialty camps that keep students eager to return.
As technology continues to shape nearly every industry, iCode Troy emphasizes the growing importance of engaging youth in STEM literacy. Even careers that aren’t traditionally considered “STEM fields” now require comfort with technology and computational thinking. The center aims to transform children from passive users of technology into confident creators—designers, developers, and innovators who understand how the digital world works and how they can shape it.
Each year, iCode Troy teaches over 1,000 students through its classes, camps, and school partnerships. Their work extends into Birmingham Public Schools, Troy Schools, and many private schools—including Holy Name Catholic School—ensuring that STEM opportunities remain affordable and accessible across the community.
Now celebrating five years in business, iCode Troy has watched many students grow with them from the very beginning. Balancing the needs of returning families with a steady influx of new learners has encouraged the team to stay flexible, creative, and responsive—ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive no matter the season or schedule.
Looking ahead, the center is expanding in an exciting new direction. Beginning this December, iCode Troy will introduce classes for Pre-K students and adults, broadening its mission to truly reach all ages. New curriculum, updated technology, and specialized training are underway as the team prepares to welcome learners who are brand-new to their programs.
For residents considering STEM learning, the iCode team offers a simple message: it’s never too early—or too late—to start. STEM sharpens problem-solving, builds confidence, and deepens our understanding of the world, benefitting individuals at any age or stage.
The love for iCode is echoed throughout the community.
“Amy L.” shares, “My kiddo is 7 years old and totally loved this experience! We keep signing up for more camps and programs… he jumps out of bed and doesn’t want to leave when it’s over. I truly believe they are helping to build a strong foundation and love of STEM.”
Another parent, “Jessica W.,” adds, “My daughter has been attending iCode for years and still loves it… she always comes home talking about something exciting she created in class!”
Families looking to get involved can explore iCode Troy’s 2026 weekly class enrollment, along with a full lineup of STEM Day Camps—including Minecraft, Roblox, 3D printing, and coding—offered during Holiday Break, Midwinter Break, Spring Break, and Summer Break.
iCode Troy continues to grow, innovate, and empower young learners—one class, one camp, and one inspired student at a time.
