Fall flowers to add color to your landscape


The seasons are changing from bright and sunny summer to cool and colorful fall. You may wonder how to keep the vibrant colors in your garden as overnight temperatures fall and sunshine becomes a premium in Northeast Ohio. Here are some tips to help with garden perfection for fall! 
Although your garden beds will need preparation for fall, it can be tempting to think that the gardening season is over. You may be able to enjoy some hearty and colorful plants which add variety to your outdoor views despite cooling temperatures. Here are some choices to consider as you extend your enjoyment of gardening into fall.
      1.  Chrysanthemums are perfect for fall because they respond to seasonal weather changes. This flower comes in different colors and sizes.               

       2.  Marigolds are hearty and bloom all summer into the fall. They are fragrant are available in many colors. The deer do not like them.

       3. Ornamental cabbage or kale are a great addition to a fall garden.  They handle the cool weather and can be planted in the garden or added to pots. 
    
       4. Sedum or ‘autumn joy’ is a perennial that is colorful through the first frost. It is an interesting plant because as the season progresses, it changes colors and provides a unique touch to your fall garden.  

As temperatures drop, gardening may continue to the advantage of all who enjoy the colors of fall. Fall-blooming perennials require relatively little maintenance once established. Fall annuals can easily be inserted to add to the overall appeal of the landscape template. Whether you are hoping to add a splash of bright color to your garden beds or create a lush, textured ground cover. There are many choices of plants to enhance your landscape for the fall season.
