Landscaping Legacy
Ed Koenig’s decades of dedication have helped shape Lifestyle Landscaping into a business built on craftsmanship, trust, and lasting relationships.
Working outside is no laughing matter. There are tons of risks and factors in making sure that a job is a job well done. There is no one better than Ed Koenig who is aware of the intricacies of the landscaping world and how to navigate it with his 50-year-strong business, Lifestyle Landscaping.
About Ed
Ed has spent all of his life in Lorain County. “I grew up in LaGrange Township and later moved to Elyria, where my wife, Paula, and I spent 13 years and started our family. Paula, Alex (our son), and I then moved to Wellington, where we have now lived for 32 years,” said Koenig. Koenig also has a deep connection with the business he owns, saying, “I joined Lifestyle Landscaping in 1982, earning $4.00 an hour, and quickly worked my way into a foreman role. Over time, I became involved in managing, designing, and sales. Along the way, I was fortunate to learn from incredible mentors who helped shape both my career and the company we are today.”
About the Business
The practices and history of Koenig’s business is deep and has a rich backstory that any good landscaping firm needs. “Lifestyle Landscaping was founded in 1976 by Don Hoffman, who simply wanted to build a business doing work he genuinely enjoyed,” said Koenig. “In 2021, Don sold the business to Dave Hoffman and I, continuing the legacy of a company built on relationships, craftsmanship, and trust. Over the past five years, we have continued strengthening both our team and our company culture. As Dave prepares for retirement, I am excited to step into the role of sole owner and continue leading Lifestyle Landscaping into its next exciting chapter”.
Life on the Job
Life on the job isn’t easy for a landscaper. There’s lots of manual labor and heavy lifting that can take a toll on a person, as well as the necessity of being a business-oriented person. “Having a well-thought-out plan is critical for any landscape project. Working with an experienced team — and feeling comfortable and confident with the company you choose — makes all the difference,” said Koenig, “A good service provider should earn and maintain your trust so that when future needs arise, you already know who to call.”
As Lifestyle Landscaping looks toward its next chapter, Ed Koenig remains committed to the same principles that have guided the company for decades—quality workmanship, trusted relationships, and a passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces. With deep local roots and a reputation built on customer satisfaction, Lifestyle Landscaping continues to prove that lasting success is cultivated through hard work, experience, and genuine care for the people they serve.
Testimonials of Past Clients
Every business needs good word-of-mouth in order to circulate through the public sphere, and Lifestyle Landscaping is certainly not short on excellent reviews.
Just wanted to let you know how pleased we are with the landscaping you did last summer. We are so proud of the way our yard looks. Recently, a woman who regularly walks in the neighborhood told me that she and her husband think we have the prettiest house in the neighborhood.
- Janet, Westlake, OH
The lighting on the front of the house is awesome! Thank you and your great crew for all the work you do to keep our home the envy of the neighborhood.
- Jim, Rocky River OH
Hi Paul!
Just wanted to drop you a note! As always Lifestyle Landscaping’s crew did an outstanding job getting our home ready for the new year! The edging and mulch bed applications truly gave an accent to our lawn that we really appreciate! You can tell those landscapers are perfectionists and show they take pride in their work! Wishing everyone a great summer from two very satisfied customers!

Karen is such a fantastic leader. She is enthusiastic and upbeat, but also very organized and knowledgeable. Orlando, Danny, and Chris are all doing a great job. Fantastic work ethic and so polite. It is a pleasure having them on the property.
